Why doesn't prusa do cheaper shipping for parts and filament?

The only option for shipping is expensive 3 days. Any reason they don't offer slower cheaper shipping?

While Prusa's shipping options aren't cheap, I don't think they're too over the top either. To ship from my place to Prague for example, the cheapest option would be 17€ with DHL. So Prusa's 9€ in the other direction almost sounds like a bargain to me in comparison.

My personal cost-saving strategy is to always try to order 3 spools of filament (the maximum weight which still costs 9€). Add one more spool, and the shipping rate jumps to 20-something €. Even 6 spools in 2 orders would cost less than combined in one order. More than that, and the large combined order is cheapest again.

The filaments which work for me on Amazon on eBay usually cost around the same as Prusa's stuff, but often cost 3-4€ shipping *per spool*, so again ordering from Prusa doesn't really look that expensive to me, at least where I live.

I just don't think there are many discounted shipping options available for them. I just order multiple items to make the shipping worth it. I would order more often if it was cheaper but I sure don't blame them.

I think the short answer is "because Prusa isn't Amazon". A lot of us have come to expect free 2-day and even next-day shipping, largely because of our geographic location, local options and market size. If you're buying a relatively low-volume product from a manufacturer that is far away with fewer shipping options and having to deal with international customs and shipping, it's a different ballgame. I'm sure Prusa would love to have options that leave more money in customer pockets to buy toys with instead of shipping. Combine orders and the impact isn't quite so hard to absorb. Meanwhile, I'm just glad that I can get my hands on their product for these prices compared to a few years ago.
