Re: [Testers Needed] Inconsistent Extrusion

old firmware, new firmware, e correct on or off seems to make no difference. PETG in white at the bottom.

Re: [Testers Needed] Inconsistent Extrusion

Been following this thread for a while. A lot of good info here and intelligent back and forth convos. Big thanks to everyone.

My MK3 also suffers from this issue. I own two MK2s that run constantly filling treatstock orders with mostly perfect prints. The MK3 prints aren't 'bad' but they certainly aren't up to the standard set by my MK2's. For now the MK3 is just printing personal stuff.

On a whim, I swapped out the entire hotend on the MK3 for a new one. Same extrusion issues.

I went into that hotend swap 99% sure that it would NOT fix anything. I was not disappointed.

Swapped the stock 0.4mm nozzle for a hardened steel 0.25mm in the hopes that a slower extrusion rate would have some positive effect. Nadda. Same as before.

Is there a data sheet for the einsy Rambo?

Thank you for that. Found it it on a wiki page linked from that site.

Per this thread: https://shop.prusa3d.com/forum/hardware-firmware-and-software-help-f64/print-quality-and-a-possible-clue-t15853.html I noticed that the extrusion inconsistency pretty much vanishes if the print speed is fast enough. Anyone else confirm that? Also, does that result mesh with the theory regarding trinamic driver misconfiguration?

I did try it, mine didn't come out anywhere as nice as that one did. I think it wasn't the best filament I was using at the time.

its was a good test but there's no way you can print at that speed without destroying anything, I was surprised it could even extrude that fast 😆

"We have new Slic3rPE 1.39.2-beta which should solve the inconsistent extrusion issue some people had 👍 it also has updated print settings build in, to test it out, copy it to your computer and run configuration wizard. It will not affect your regular Slic3r and it’s settings from windows drivers. Have a nice weekend and happy printing!" - Josef Průša

How many people on this thread see the issue with Cura or S3D? I've seen it with Slic3r and Cura both.

s3d here, haven't tried anything else. I'll give the new slic3r a shot.

darn. I am about to do the same thing, but only because I managed to snap my heatbreak during a routine nozzle change. Decided to go all out: copper alloy block and nozzle with titanium heatbreak.

Re: [Testers Needed] Inconsistent Extrusion

I applaud Prusa putting time into the minimum layer time logic- that's good design right there. But I don't think this will solve the extrusion problems we have been seeing. Most of us have been printing perimeter cubes, which print the entire cube at the same speed (except for the accel/decel around the corners). I have gone from 5 second minimum layer time, to 15 second minimum layer time, and finally no minimum layer time (with several speeds tested). It made little difference- the extrusion issues appear to exist no matter what I have tried.

RC2 and slic3r beta used, printed through s3d machine control. full self test and xyz cal done. Default .2 "fast" profile with no changes.

The photo doesn't do it justice, but this is a MASSIVE improvement for me, even using the dirtiest, nastiest abortion of a hotend I could cobble together while waiting for new parts. Some moire striping is still present.

How about a good pic with the light at the same angle as the bad prints?

I've spent my friday night fiddling with this and haven't been able to take consistent and repeatable macro shots with my cellphone one handed. It was a small miracle I got the first ones, and even those are blurry.

there really is no pleasing this community sometimes. How about a little bit of independent validation?

Hey, check your first layer, it appears your LiveZ is too high.

On the left, RC1. On the right, RC2. There is an improvement - the variations are still there but are smaller.

LOL, well there isn't much point in doing stuff if you don't compare apples with apples. The angle of incident light plays a major part in how a print looks.

Where has everybody gone? There was such a noise about this issue, yet when Prusa claim to have a fix, few people have responded.

Are many people actively testing this fix? And has it bought the quality of the MK3 closer to the MK2S?

If there's an improvement it's barely perceptible to me.
