Printing with air brush nozzle... how to calibrate Live-Z?

On an impulse buy, I ordered one of the adapters that allows using an airbrush tip with a V6-style nozzle. The tip screws in with no surprises. The problem is that the tip extends 2-3mm behind a normal V6 nozzle. I'm wondering how to use this thing. If I do a G28 home, I'm expecting the Z axis to be lowered until the PINDA is triggered, which it won't be with this length.

I was thinking I might be able to manually position the nozzle, then issue a "this is home" command, but I'm hoping there's an easier method. I'm not willing to compile custom firmware over this, as it's just meant to be an experiment. Has anyone experimented with these things on a Mk3?

I have come so close to ordering a $200 stupid printer for these sorts of situations.

Is the PINDA long enough to lower it to about a zip-tie's thickness higher than the new bottom of your nozzle stack?

might not be too hard to make an adaptor for pinda so she can be lower.

I have a Prusa,therefore I research.

How did you end up going with this?  I was just about to buy one but thought I would check on here first 😉

Did it work? Was it an improvement? Have you kept it or gone back?

I never got around to trying it. I found some nozzles by Mellow with a sharper tipthat have worked well on my Mk3 at 0.25mm size. I can't say that it's made a huge difference, but they work well for miniatures.

My urgency to figure out the airbrush nozzles on the Mk3 has diminished since I've got a 2nd (Artillery Sidewinder) printer for that sort of experimentation now. It's a clunky beast with no automatic mesh bed leveling, but it's well suited for this sort of one-off experiment. I don't want to screw up my reliable Mk3 over a test.
