Re: Power coated sheets delayed again.

I think we need to take this with prospective.

I have all three beds described in this post:

1. PRUSA Powder Textured - Good, but not worth waiting for. I saw all the posts about ti being better and I bought into the hype. To me, it maybe more durable, but the adhesion is less and I personally prefer the surface quality from the sticker sheets.
2. PRUSA PEI Double Sided Stickers - Better adhesion and smoother surface on the print.
3. Ebay / Amazon Powder Coated - It is ok, but nto worth $50. After 20 prints, it is still in good condition. I did have some issues with cleaning off ABS.

I would say that if you have a PEI sheet, it is not worth buying a powder coated unless you want to use $10 coupon. If you don’t have a coupon and don’t need a new bed, pass on the powder coated.

I ordered mine with the textured plate, they sent it with the sticker and the coupon was received later. Then I received the textured plate about a month ago.

They are sending them out, just slowly.

When did you order the printer?

January 2, 2018 is when I ordered mine. I do not remember exactly when I got the powder coated sheet.

I ordered on Jan 5th, so hopefully mine's up soon. Meanwhile... I was kind of hoping to also pick up a smooth powder-coated sheet! My double-sided sticker jobbies are doing just great except for the one side I screwed up due to stupidity.

If you order yours January 2, 2018, I think you got very lucky. I placed my order October 17 2017 and still waiting. Talked to support a few nights ago and they said middle of November. 🤔

I ordered mine in mid-December, received the printer in early March. Still waiting for notification on the powder coated sheet here, haven't heard anything about when the voucher for the discount on the promised pc sheet will be sent. Did get a $20 voucher for taking a survey, it expires on 12/31/18. Hoping I have the opportunity to order the pc sheet before the new year. On the plus side, I haven't really had any problems with the printer and I'm enjoying the heck out of it. I am grateful for that!

Re: Power coated sheets delayed again.

Completely unsurprised to hear another estimate has been missed. I am certain that Prusa staff do not have the faintest idea when this situation will be resolved and they are randomly quoting vague future dates in the hope that one will perhaps come true.

By now the Prusa company must know what the output of the paint shop is that are producing these, and also an average failure rate. Perhaps it is time for them to come clean and give us a real estimate of when they expect to have produced enough sheets to keep production of new machines flowing, as well as satisfying customers who have been waiting over a year. Or even if they think it may never be achieved.

Leaving everyone wondering month after month is a very poor way of dealing with the situation but sad to say it is now what I have come to expect. This behaviour was certainly a factor in why I cancelled my 1st day pre-order for an SL1 and claimed back the £1630.

One would think they'd have production issues under control by now. OTOH, I wouldn't even consider pre-ordering from Prusa at this point. Generally speaking I'm happy with the Mk3 but Prusa's business practices don't quite meet my expectations.

I personally like the non-smooth bottom. It helps me glue pieces together, I do not have to roughen them up first. 🙂

Re: Power coated sheets delayed again.

I ordered on Dec 25, 2017. I have not heard anything on a powder coated sheet. Do I have to do anything to get it sent out or receive the voucher? No issues with sticker sheet so far since receiving in Mar, but would like to try powder coated. Thanks!

Snap.. I am more than happy with what I have today, but am obvious looking forwards to getting the PC sheet.

I also have the survey voucher and assumed/hope I could use it towards the PC sheet.. But as the days tick on, I fear its not going to happen and I have little else to spend it on.

So fingers crossed that we will get the chance to buy this year.. But I have to say I am starting to doubt it!

I am concerned but would rather have a sheet done right than one delivered haphazard.

Prusa has the ability to provide sheets that are "done right". They're just using them for new orders rather than making an effort to fulfill early orders. As an aside I ordered on 10/14/17.

The PEI sheet is fine and I may actually like it better than the textured sheet but I would like the option to form that opinion on my own and feel Prusa should be making good on past orders before selling them with current orders. In any event I've already spent around $100 looking for a decent textured sheet as aesthetically I prefer the textured surface but haven't been happy with either option. I like the finish of the BuildTak surface but it's a PITA to get parts off of and damages quickly. The V3 sheet from Ebay and Amazon that I and others have purchased amplifies my inconsistent first layer issues to an unacceptable level and I feel the texture on it is a bit uh, aggressive...

Re: Power coated sheets delayed again.

I have both sheets, I have the sticker sheet from my MK3 and I got a PC sheet with my MK2.5. I like both sheets, and one of my customers requires me to use the sticker sheet because he needs a smooth surface to attach a sticker to the finished print. I would like 1 sheet of each on my printers, as I actually like the PC sheet much better. Much more durable as my sticker sheet has some damage at the primer line and a few spots that picked up from PETG.

Ditto.

This said, I'm not going to say "but I like the smooth sheet better" when I don't own one of the powder coated sheets. lol! 😕 😆

Re: Power coated sheets delayed again.

So I just got off support for another issue but I always ask about the power coated sheets before I leave. Apparently the first wave of vouchers are going out either this week or next week. But apparently I am stuck waiting another 2-3 weeks before I will even get a chance to get a voucher due to when I ordered my printer (11/22/17) but no clue when that will actually get me a sheet in my hand. Its a shame that its going to basically take a full year since I bought the printer before I can actually order a part that should of been with it at release.

That's good to hear as my cooling fan has started making funny noises that a good blast of compressed air isn't helping. I guess it's time to start getting my list of spare parts together.
