MK3S+ parts on a MK3S?

Hello,

My MK3S extruder slowly started to "melt", especially the parts that are near the hotend and the Pinda holder. As I'm looking forward printing again the whole extruder, can I print the parts from the MK3S+ without buying the upgrade kit and keep using my old parts? Or should I only print the parts for the MK3S?

Thanks in advance 🙂

The fan shroud is notorious for deforming after a while.

There are some improved (remixed) ones or you can print the original in a tougher filament.

IIRC, most of the extruder parts are PETg and the factory stock fan shroud is ABS.

I printed the new (remixed) shroud in PC Blend and it has not drooped since.

If the other pieces are starting to deform, you can reprint them in ABS or ASA for some better heat resistance.  PC is probably overkill for most of the parts other than the shroud.

To answer your original question, however, in my opinion there's no reason to use the MK3S+ parts unless you specifically want to perform an upgrade.  I would suggest replacing them with the stock parts or known improved/remixed parts.

Thank you very much for your answer. Is there anywhere that I can find a list of which parts have been improved? It’s not that I particularly want to print the MK3S+ parts, but I want to get the improved parts.

I have replaced the extruder with Mk3S+ parts, and they work fine. But I also don't see any real advantage so whether you choose the original parts or the new parts, it's up to you. I did it mostly for forward compatibility.

Printed the shroud in PC Blend, everything else in PETG.
