Mesh Calibration failing at Point 3

My Mk3 kit was received in Dec 2017 but I only got around to start using it last week.. And since then its been in pretty constant use.

A few times in the last week, Mesh Leveling fails at point 3 saying that there could be debris on the nozzle.. And after a bit of messing about I can get it to pass and start printing, and I believe it really was because of debris.

But today its failing and there is nothing wrong.. The head comes down and it stops about 10mm away and reports the error

Its crossed my mind that this is a cabling fault, as it happens when the loom is most stretched and true enough, after moving the loom about, its now calibrated at point 3 and moved on.

Does this sound like a fault on the Pinda, specifically the cabling? Or does anyone have any other thoughts/suggestions?

I've had the same thing happen several times. Always on the 3rd point. I've been able to fix it by running it to the top of the Z axis so it bumps against the stops a few times. After that it works fine. I don't know if this is a real fix or if it indicates something is wonky with my build so your mileage may vary.

It just did it on Point 5.. I am speaking to support and hopefully they will get me a new Pinda to try and I am convinced its a wiring issue.

I'm pretty sure it is the cable. I had the same issues on my mk2 twice as well and got it replaced by the support without further disbelieved questions. I believe that it is due to how the wire are routed from the extruder body to the back of the carriage where it increases the stress in the wire on that bend point at the carriage

I think so too... but a little worrying that its happened after a week and perhaps 50 hours of printing...

Theynare sending me a replacement and i am rebuilding the extruder with the new parts soon, so will will take extra care to route the cable...

I don't think we can do anything to prevent it. It may be with the internal pinda head failure as well. It maybe because of during printing, we heat up pinda close to the bed's printing temperature and the components inside may failed due to the heat.

Yours were just a week (after owning the mk3 i presume?) and after 50 hours of printing (estimated), there may be about 1-10 hours total time the printing laying down the first layer where pinda is closest to the bed.

Who knows, I may be wrong about the component failing inside the pinda head

I hear you... just not reassuring when the pinda inmy printrbot has been trouble free after 5 years of continuous use... infact considering them “looms” on that are spiral wrapped, i am surprised I havnt had a single wire break...

Fingers crossed its just teathing problems,..

Is the pinda's wire on printrbot curved/routed same way as mk2/mk3 does? If not, it should be how the cable are supposed to be routed on mk2/mk3 then
