Max Weight for filament ?

Hello,

I did not find this in the manual: what's the max weight teh original MK3S can support ?

I am hesitating to by format 2,3 KG of Arianeplast PLA but not sure if it is a good idea. It costs less and we do not need to change it so often.

(there is also one of 8kg but this is not a good idea 🙂 )

Thanks !
JF

Depends on what spool holder you use.

I bought a 2kg spool from FilamentPM a while back and the spool was much too large for any holder I have.  I ended up respooling it (major pain!) onto two used spools.

If you design an appropriate holder that goes above, behind, beside, etc. with the appropriate filament path, that could work.

As far as I remember the standard (on top) spool holder can hold only 1kg spools. Bigger spools will not fit there. But you can use any spool holder externally. To remove it from the top is a good idea anyway.

Search for spool holders and pick a favorite or make a new one. Usually a stick and some kind of support for the stick is enough to use any spools you want. Yes, even 8kg ones 🙂

The extrudr brand 2.3kg spools fit on the fitted holder but only just. It also puts more stress on the frame so I wouldn’t actually use it like that though. I just printed a TUSH spool holder for larger spools.
