keeping up to date with firmware?

Im new to 3D printing and am wondering what everyones advice/opinion is on this. So I have got my M3 printing really well on 3.1.3 firmware. Is it important (even when your printer is printing really well) to keep up to date with latest firmware etc? Im scared of updating and something changes and then have to re tweak things again.

Cheers

Jon

Check out the changelogs: https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/releases and decide for yourself

If you're one of us who've had significant non-hardware related issues since release (first layer, extrusion inconsistency) then you'll be very interested in the updates and especially the last few have brought big changes.

Linear Advance is perhaps the most significant change between 3.1 and 3.2- it really helps on perimeters with sharp corners. It's leaps ahead of anything 3.1.3 could do (but it has to be enabled via GCode in the slicer, and the value used is dependant on filament type.)

If you're happy with your prints, leave it. If you want to see if you could increase your print quality, upgrade.

There's nothing preventing you from flashing a previous version. Flash the new firmware, if you have any issues, flash back to 3.1.3. At worse, you could have to run Calibration Wizard again.
