Just assembled my Prusa i3 mk3 but no SD card

Hello all,

I just assembled my new printer and ran all checks on it, everything passed and I was excited to do my first print.  However, I didn’t get a SD card with it.   What size SC card is it suppose to take, and I assume you put it into the LCD area.   This was not covered in the directions.

Any help would greatly be appreciated, as I’m ready to print some items 🙂

I assume it’s a regular size SD card, what size does everyone use?

It should come with one, already inserted into the sd card slot on the left side of the lcd.

Mine was not inserted.  It was in one of the parts kits.  It has the frog and such.

I usually use plain vanilla Best Buy whatever is cheapest.  I figure this is not a time-critical case.  I usually use 16g for the printer.

I just ordered one off of Amazon, it will be here tomorrow.  I ordered the Scan Disk 128GB extreme.  Hopefully, it will work with the machine.

Hi Jmp470,

the Prusa can use up to 32Gb native,

I understand that bigger cards need reformatting, I have never done this

good luck.

@joantabb

Thank you for telling me the size.  I canceled my order and ordered a 32GB one.  I wasn’t sure how big the files for printing were, so I went with the larger size.

😀

Been there, done the same thing...

I used the big card in my camera and got a smaller one for the printer

!

Once you get 100 files on a card (In a single directory, Prusa Printers have difficulty handling them
And you have difficulty finding what you are looking for...

I usually add an additional directory called Test, and I keep a 75mm test square for PLA, PETG and TPU, in that directory.   (Life Adjust 'Z' My Way)

so they are easy to get to.

regards Joan
