Thank you.

Don't seem to be able to get it to open, so was wondering if that was the problem. Installed OK, but when I click on the icon I get a loading wheel for about 30 seconds and then nothing. Can see it running in processes in task manager. I have multiple monitors and I've read this can be the cause but I've tried without them and the software and it's the same. Obviously something on my pc is causing the issue but I have no idea what?

Have installed on my laptop which has Windows 10 and it's working fine.

I had slic3r 1.41.2 installed before which worked OK.

Did you installed it with administrative rights ?

I've tried opening it as administrator, but not installing it?

It's running fine on my Windows 7 Premium (or Home or whatever).  A dumb question: after the loading wheel disappears does the PrusaSlicer icon appear in the task bar?

I've uninstalled everything again and re installed as administrator, and run as administrator, still get the same result. This time I did get a pop up from tune up, but it was too quick to see exactly what it said, something like Prusaslicer is inactive, and something to reduce load. I will try and get this to happen again so I can see exactly what it says.

No the icon doesn't appear in the task bar after the loading wheel. Nothing happens at all.

Navigate to the executable, right mouse select Properties, then the compatibility tab.

Try the various options and see if any of those fix it.

Only other thing I can think of is check the Event Log and see what is actually crashing.

I suspect some out of date library like .net. Microsoft will do pretty much anything to force you to Windows 10.

As an FYI: I am using Windows 7 Pro and everything works well.  But there have been some issues (others, not me) with Open GL drivers: so make sure you have the latest video drivers installed.

And did you install the full Prusa 315MB kit (drivers, Pronterface, Plicer) or did you try to piece meal the install? And what version are you installing -- x32 or x64?

A few more install options...

Thanks for the suggestions.

I've uninstalled again and reinstalled but I didn't get the pop up from tune up this time so couldn't record what it said.

I've tried all compatibility options, no different.

I've made sure everything is up to date, can't seem to see anything relating to it in the event log? which is weird.

I installed the full kit and I'm x64 version.

Getting really frustrated now as I can't use this and I can't seem to roll back to a previous version either. Cant believe I'm the only person having this problem!?

What is your OpenGL graphics card? Does it support OpenGL 2.0? You may try to copy the opengl.dll from the Mesa directory to the main PrusaSlicer directory, this wil enable software rendering by default. Please note that the software rendering will be slow.

I don't see this answered: and admittedly I am guessing a bit,  but my assumptions are the program must be installed using admin privileges so it can write libraries and temp files where needed.  I don't think simply running as admin will solve the install issue.
