Re: Firmware 3.1.2 FINAL for Original Prusa i3 MK3

I have upgraded to 3.1.2 Final today. I am very happy with the results so far. The dreaded bondtech click seems to be gone. I am printing the Tudor Rose Box https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:408189 at 0.1mm layer height with Hatchbox wood PLA . No jamming and it looks GLORIOUS.

I am getting an intermittent crash detection on the y-axis. It has happened 3 times today, once while I was actually watching it. There was no crash at the time. It did re-home and kept right on going.

My current spool is about to run out so I hope the filament sensor still works!

I have upgraded to 3.1.2 Final today.

Just curious why do you did not use the latest final firmware 3.1.3, which has been released 6 day ago https://github.com/prusa3d/Prusa-Firmware/releases/tag/v3.1.3 ?

My current spool is about to run out so I hope the filament sensor still works!

Don't worry, it works pretty well 😉

Fan checks synchronization
While printing shapes with long linear movements at very low speeds, the system could alert you with false fan error. We fixed this issue in the current release.

Still not fixed. Loaded the latest firmware 3.1.3 and tried to print but still get the fan error at low speeds. I increased the speed and was able to print.

To get very good quality prints I have been using the old S3D MK2 setting, slower but very good prints.

Had to turn off fan error checking to get quality prints. If I turn up the speed fast enough not to get fan error the quality of the prints are poor. Hope this gets fixed soon don’t like running without fan error protection.

I don't get any fan errors on 3.1.3 - must be a hardware problem specific to you folks?

kkkk

i was wondering why some people are talking about 3.1.3 as i can only find 3.1.2 (on the prusa firmware download site, should have looked in Github). Turns out: if you have selected another language than english or Prusa language, it's not there. I'll give it a go then ^^

I started getting fan errors today on a print that i’ve printed numerous times and it seems to be in the same spot 7 times now.

When the tachometer wire on my print fan started failing it threw the error in just about the same spot in the print every time but once. In that spot where the error would occur, the cord was probably being tugged just right to make the wire separate momentarily.

It’s a firmware problem which has not been fixed yet. All I need to do to remove the fan error is turn up the print speed. But the quality suffers when I do this. Especially transparent PETG. To get High quality prints I use the MK2 profiles. Slower but way improve print quality. To do this you need to disable the the fan error.

Note I was told earlier on the forum you could not use mk2 profiles but that was not accurate. You will get a fan error but that can be disabled. I have a small hobby business with a lot of products and this has save me a lot of time not having to redo everything.
