X Axis in one direction

Hi,

I'm new to printing so I'm asking for for help. The first 30-40 hours of printing with my self assembled MK3S were fine and I could solve some smaller issues by myself and was very happy with the printed results, too. Then the printer was off for some days due to vacation. Now I've got the issue (already narrowed down) that the X Axis has a big resistance when moving it to the left. Moving to the right feels ok. I loosened the belt pulley (motor side) that it can move freely, but the resistance when moving to the left is still there (same intensity). A thing is that I discovered, when moving to the right, the movement to the left is possible for 0,5-1cm. Then the resistance comes in. I also had loosend the housing screws, checked the Zip ties, etc. but the result is the same.

What should I check next? In the worst case, I think I have to disassemble the axis until the bearings to find out if the resistance results from a defect bearing. But before it worked totally fine.... I haven't found much concrete on the internet or the forum about this yet (maybe i used the wrong keywords to search).  Does  anyone you have another tip for me how to solve?

Edit:

Jammed linear bearings – This usually happens after hundreds of printing hours. You should be able to spot that the axis is not running smoothly anymore. If that’s the case, then the affected bearings should be removed and greased on the inside (they need to be removed from axis because the plastic lip will prevent the grease from getting inside). Super-lube, or any other multi-purpose grease, will do.

Looks like this, but without "hundreds of hours".

Thank you

Tobi

Ok, forget about it. I put a very very tiny grease onto the smooth X Axis rods, and what can I tell you? As smooth as it can be in both directions almost no friction. Happy to print again .... Sierpinski 14h print queued. 😎

You really need to remove the bearings and grease them properly.

What you did is a short term fix.
