Trouble with horizontal surfaces
Hi all, I have got an original MK3 self-assembled, never got past the first layer calibration. With the MK3S upgrade I decided to upgrade and give it another go (1 year later :o). I used a new roll of filament and managed to print 2 perfect 3DBenchy models, really 100% perfect. However, whenever I try to print something with a horizontal surface like the prusa3d logo or the included batarang model, I have gaps and little 'tuffs'.
Can this still be related to z-height calibration or possibly other problems? Back when I was troubleshooting my original MK3 I had the same problem, and I already used the needle (which I lost now) and did 2 cold pulls. I just can't figure why the Benchy model is perfect, but any infil or other horizontal flat surfaces don't succeed. The first layer is ok though, as you can see on the batarang (2nd picture is the bottom), but as soon as a new layer goes over it, it goes wrong. Any hints?

I have uploaded the images here as well as apparently you can't open the original res in this post: https://imgur.com/a/OEi0wIY

I have added two pictures of a treasure chest to the imgur album as well, the vertical sides are perfect, but you can see the bottom is translucent. The chest is the one being printed on the very first picture with the sunshine rays on the bed.

The batarang was printed at 60%, as well as the two boats. Boats and chest at 0.15, batarang is 0.20

What does your purge line look like?

The only issue I see is a bad layer 1.  Though, red is a poor color for looking at artifacts; silver is better.

Layer one should look something like this:

Thanks, I found a post with a good layer calibration model, the 75mm square one. I'm using it now to finetune, the z height I used still had separation when printing the square. That was not so visible when using the supplied calibration. Going to continue trying next week.

I have perfect first layers now, but still the same problem, on the 2nd layer there doesn't seem to come out any filament when printing the infil. The head also moves in really quick diagonals. When I put the speed on 20% it almost looks good, but still not 100%.

RE: Trouble with horizontal surfaces

It was a partial clog which I managed to remove by setting the temp to 280 after unloading..
