stair steps on new (almost) i3 Mk3S

I have a problem that I think is called ‘stair stepping’. My self assembled i3 Mk3s is a couple of months old. The problem has probably been there since the beginning, but is becoming more obvious as I make larger items. I believe the cause is usually attributed to a restriction or loose pulley on the affected axis (in this case I think ‘X’). I have checked and rechecked for a restriction and found nothing. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have attached photos that hopefully illustrate the problem.

Thanks

From your bottom print, I would say there's most probably some kind of mechanical issue.  When the print goes from layer to layer, the nozzle should return to the same exact position with only a subfractional mm tolerance or play in there.  At least one of the axes in your bottom print is skewing for one reason or another.
