Repetitive imperfections

Hi All,

I've got my first prusa up and running yesterday. I started with a benchy which came out perfect the first try! Incredible.

Now is printed the Iris box and the shell has these small imperfections nothing mayor. The funny thing is when i printed the second one it nearly had the exact same imperfections on the same spots 😵. Can anyone tell me the cause of this?

My printer is standing on a very sturdy surface. The belt tension on the Y-axis seems a little tight but that wouldn't cause a repetitive issue right?  I suspect the G-code since the imperfections are repetitive. Has anyone encountered similar issues?

RE: Repetitive imperfections

Are you aware that a 3D printer is effectively a computer controlled Glue Gun, that builds models in layers, these imperfections are where the layers start and stop.
the Slicer software tries to hide the start / stop in corners. but there aren't many corners on a round model.

you can use the 'Seam' setting to set the seam
Nearest  (Slicer makes up it's own mind to provide a fast print)
Aligned, (You instruct the printer to align the start stop points... this will cause a seam)
Random (You instruct the printer to place the seam at random points on the model, this can sometimes give better prints)
Rear (you tell the printer to put the seam at the back of the model, then you can turn the model so that an un seem area is toward the back of the printer, where the seam will be

also adjusting your retraction settings can help too,

regards Joan

Makes an awful lot of sense!  Good to know there is a function to hide these seams. Thanks!
