RAMBo cover door (can't close?)

I am having trouble on getting this door to close. I have checked multiple times with my assembly and comparing to both the hard cover, and PDF documents. There is no room to close the door cover to the electronics bay. The hinge area will pinch, there is 0 clearance.

The only way I can close this, is to try to force part of the plastic at the corner of the door to go ontop of the circuit board holder. This just seems wrong.

I am so confused here, bad parts shipped or what?

Double check that you've mounted the hinges correctly (it's hard to see, but I think you have).
Then maybe loosen the screws holding the RAMBO base just a bit and back the assembly out away from the cover and hinges. The back side of the base should be flush with the edge of the frame.
Hope that helps!

The back already is flush... as much as possible.

I will check the hinges for the 10'th time I guess tomorrow. My solution at this point is to take a dremel tool and cut off part of the corner on the cover closest to the top hinge. This should make enough room so I can shut the door. At least in theory.

I am still confused why no one else has this assembly issue? Surely it must have come up before...

Re: RAMBo cover door (can't close?)

There are two or three different thicknesses of Rambo cover. On at least one occasion in the past the wrong one was shipped to someone. Go to https://github.com/prusa3d/Original-Prusa-i3 , selectthe correct branch and check the cover stl for your printer. You can then download and print the correct one or talk to support to get one sent.

Hope that helps,

Yes, it definitely seems that the thickness is too much. I trimmed the corner, but that is not good enough, I still have to trim almost all the way across that door if I want to make it shut.

For now, I got it to close partially. I will just have to print a thinner door when/if I get this thing operational.

Re: RAMBo cover door (can't close?)

I just recently built a MK3 and the Einsy board enclosure does NOT fit as it did on my earlier MK3. The NEW box is about .2" wider overall. The enclosure door is .2" wider at .8" and the enclosure box seems to be the same at 1.4" wide. This new door will not fit correctly on the MK3 frame as designed. The rear enclosure can be screwed onto the frame it is slid back past the frame a good .2" but there is NOT enough flange for the screws to hold the box to the frame and it easily FALLS OFF! I am requesting that PRUSA send me a functional enclosure that FITS the MK3 as it should.

These few pictures are from my home MK3 and that case and door fit good. The next post shows picture of the MK3 we purchased for the company and the bad door cover.

Hi,
thanks for the feedback, can you please check if you have any version written on the door and base?

It should be "B6" or something similar.

Can you please also take the photo of the plastic bag, from which you took the printed RAMBo cover parts? I'm interested in the label.

There is no revision information on the cover door anywhere that I can find.

The door is the problem, not the base.

Prusa Chat today. I was trying to explain the problem the best I could. I had not seen his request for the revision number on the part when chatting due to screen scroll and I was getting a bit irritated. This new part being sent hopefully will be the correct part this time.

Interesting, well here is my image to include. I have a different batch # printed on my bag, and the thickness of the door is about 0.78" measured with the calipers.

After looking at IronJoe's image... it seems that the outer lip/rim of the door is SUPPOSED to ride and over-lap ONTOP of the edge of the box holding the Einsy?

I am still confused on how this is supposed to assemble correctly. Ugh!

Re: RAMBo cover door (can't close?)

CORRECT PARTS HAVE ARRIVED!

I received a new controller rear housing and new door from Prusa. I replaced the door only because I knew it was the wrong one when sent in the kit. The new door was installed and the housing was repositioned as it should be with its backside flush with the frame. The door now closes as it should and the problem has been resolved. The replacement door measured .6" thick as is should.

Obviously Prusa Research sent the WRONG door in the kit. There are probably more out there that had this same problem. In the picture below you can see the wrong cover on the left and the correct Rev.A9 cover on the right side that is .2" thinner.

Thanks Prusa
