One Z motor dead

Just assembled MK3 S+ kit. In calibration mode when it tries to move Z, the left motor turns but the right motor does not. If I swap cables on the Einsy board, the left motor is dead and the right one is live. Since each board is tested before packaging, have I damaged the board, somehow?  Was careful to only handle by edges when mounting in the box.  Is there anything else I should check?

RE: One Z motor dead

Sounds like a controller board or header/terminal issue.  It could also be a broken wire.  Contact support via chat.

If the both motors work when connected to left motor connector on the Einsy board the problem should be on the board side.

Check the connectors on the board. Maybe you bend a pin. That is easy to check.

After that contact support, that will help you diagnose and fix it.

Forget the broken wire.  That is not possible based on your results above.  .

I have bent a pin before on a huge DC controller PCB, easier done than you may think, found the motor cables rather tight to plug in on the mk3 so very possible if was not plugged in straight.

Its easy to straighten a bent pin with great care, a very small flat blade, and/or a pair of very small tip needle nose pliers, just dont bend too many times as will snap the pin.  Carefully lift and straighten.

Didn't want to admit this... Had the Z and E motor plugs switched on the Einsy board.

Well that will do it.  Don’t fret, we have all done it.

I did not! My wireing was perfect.   I switched the gear of the Y-Axis in the wrong direction instead! 🤪

Yip, easy done, not much space around that area, and need very tiny fingers.

There are worse things you could do on a build. 😲

And it is difficult to diagnose your own work. You think you did it right the first time. So it will be easy to look at it again and thinking you did it right.

That is why it is some times helpfull to have some one else look at it. Or post a few pictures here. I happens often when some one posts a picture here that some one else will see the problem right away.
