New to 3D printing and Prusa Products. Is this layer shifting?

Hey All,

Finished my MK3S+ about a week ago. I have tried a few different prints, all with errors. I can't figure what the issue is.

Self Test Passed. Axes perpendicular. Belt test reading 247 on both x and y. All motor pulley set screws have been tightened as well as other pulleys. I am at a loss. haha

Any suggestions are welcome! Thanks in advance!

Your belts are too loose, or perhaps the screws on your X and Y motor pulleys are not tightened in the correct order.

@dan-rogers

Ok, I'll try to tighten those. If I am at belt tightness 247 right now, how much tighter should I try for?

Thanks for the help!

If you can get it tight enough to get a decent print (throw those #'s away), download the little belt tension gauge pattern (must be printed in PETG) that Prusa published.  Then dial it into the middle to upper end of the "sweet spot"

From your cube, assuming it was plated with the X on the X axis, will be your X belt, but check em both

I see. I see. I'm scared of tightening things too much. I'd hate to break the printed parts of the printer. Haha. I'll try to find that belt tension guage file.

Thanks for the help.

Also check that your pulley screws were tightened in the correct order.

So, I am coming back to this post to share my issue. The Zip-Ties that hold the wires on the back of the extruder carriage were turned such that the end that contains the lock were on the left side (as I am looking from the front of the printer) this would push on the Einsy case on some layers, and slide in the gaps of the Einsy cage on other layers.

I hope this helps someone else, I was beginning to lose my mind. I was tipped off after performing a few self tests and watching the carriage a few times being unable to move flush to the x-axis bracket after the self-test had failed a couple times saying that there was an error with the x-axis.

Thanks everyone for their help!
