New hotend and Z-calibration fails

Hello,

I just changed the stock hotend to a nova one, added a pt-100 amp and everything is fine so far but the calibration fails at Z.

I noticed the home position at the z-calibration is not above the circle. When doing a homing it is.

As it is reading the magnetic field I assume this is the problem but why is the position wrong?

The pinda sensor is above the bed as it should be (width of zip-tie) and it is working = switching to 1  sensor state when I move it to the circle manually.

Belt status is x:284 y:299, though this is just as before I swapped the hotend.

Of course I had to change the firmware due to the amplifier, however apart from uncommenting

#define E3D_PT100_EXTRUDER_WITH_AMP

there is no change to the version before.

What exactly is performed during the Z test? It moves up and aligns the left and right axis and moves back down until what?

It stops perfectly here in height but not in xy position over the circle, so it does know the z-home position somehow otherwise it would crash into the bed?

Suggestions, ideas,hints ?

Due to the changed design you will probably have to change the maximum z-position (Z_MAX_POS) in the firmware. the original value is set to 210mm:

I have no experience with the nova hotend but i think the length is different from the original prusa. This is also the case with the bondtech.

Have you done a temperature calibration of the 100 Watt heating cartridge and PT100? How does the Einsy react at 100Watt power output?

The height is pretty much the same as I use the long groove mount adapter.

Actually 220 for my setup, since I use the skelestruder mod. I know I had the same issues before but it was easy to fool the printer by blocking the path on top of the z axis. Maybe I should go back to 210 and watch what is happening.

However as the pinda is not above the circle how is it supposed to work?

About the 100Watt output we will see, the Einsy output is at 5A so this should work, if not it will blow the fuse and I need to get an amplifier but the test in the wizard was fine so far.

Pretty weird, changed to 210 and now it passed the z-calibration without blocking the z-path. This shouldn´t work at all but what do I know, it is at calibration point 4 of 4 now.  🙂

Congratulations! I would be pleased if you could give me feedback on the functionality of the 100W heating block with the PT100 if the opportunity arises. I also installed a PT100 with its own temperature table on my MK3, but this required the installation of an amplifier board.

Yes the sensor got an amplifier (E3D PT 100). The hotend heats up pretty fast but before I do further tests I sadly have to diassemble the thing again... I messed with the feeding gears somehow, got to fix this first.
