Just prints a few layers

Hi there,

I have some odd phenomenon with my printer.

After 24 layers or so, it just keeps continue printing but without extruding filament.

I thought it was clogged up or something, but that doesn't seem to be the case, if I restart the print after cleaning the bed and such it works perfectly fine for around 22/24 layers. It happens with all my prints, I decided to test with 50% and 75% of speed, but that doesn't seem to work.

I try to print 100% infill for this part, because I want to use it as a wall mount for my Mosin Nagant.

Any tips? I'm getting slightly mad :p hahah

Kind Regards,

Sovjet

Outlines

Hi Sovjet,
I would use lots of perimeters rather than 100% infill, to strengthen your wall mount

AND I would increase the extrusion with for the perimeters to say 0.6mm or 0.8mm  (with a 0.4mm nozzle) so that you have fewer thicker perimeters.

and I would consider using 0.3mm layer height as well, to reduce the total number of layers

regards Joan

Thanks and trials

Hi Joan,

That's a good idea indeed, still new to all this that I didn't come up with that myself haha.

Many thanks!

I'm gonna do some trials!

mind the supports

Hi Sovjet,
I also prefer to print my models of this nature, in the orientation shown below

Instead of the orientations below

Is your Moisin Nagant Active?

We have to lock our active fire arms away in England,
We can only display   non functional Replicas, De-activated firearms, or firearms with obsolete amunition.

Filament Grinding

Hi Joan,

It seems I still got to learn quite a lot of functions with the Prusa Slicer, I didn't know I could print stuff in the air by placing supports on it!

This particular Mosin Nagant that will be on the wall is deactivated. I will definitely send a picture here when I got my wall mounts right.

I just noticed that my layer stopping has another origin, Filament Grinding, the MMU2S unit will grind after 45+ minutes and then it will stop feeding to the extruder.

So I gotta need to check pressure in the unit it seems.

Kind Regards,

Fun and Games

Cheers Sovjet,
I have a duff motor on my mmu2 at the moment, so I am using the MMU1
and that's jammed filament 1, so I am using 2,3&4

Best wishes.

Joan

Broke it

Hi Joan,

Yeah I might have broke my temperature cable by accidently scratching it when replacing the nozzle.

So I'm out of the running for a week or two hehe.

Oh Dear!

That Sucks!

did you order two replacements, one to use, and one for stock, for next time?

Heaters are also useful to have in stock, in case you get a BLOB OF DOOM!

🙂

Regards Joan
