Issue with the filament getting stuck

Hi,

Since a few days I can't manage to print anything without the filament(Pla) to jam in the extruder. (MK3)
I tried different gcode, different filament, nothing works..
I've also tightened and untightened the screw holding the bondtech, doesn't improve..
The filament then get stuck in the extruder and wouldn't go out.. The unload filament fonction doesn't work at all either. Have to pull out the filament by hand (quite hard).
Any idea how to fix that?

Sebastien

Re: Issue with the filament getting stuck

Hi Sebastien,

that looks like the filament has melted above the cold end heatsink.

have you spoken to support?

it looks like there is too much heat in the Bondtech chamber

this could be coming from the filament sensor, the heatsink, the extruder motor shaft, or the ambient temperature, probably a combination.

the PLA should not be melting inside the bondtech chamber

regards Joan

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I did sent a mail to the support but no answer yet.
The temperature in the enclosure I have for the printer is about 30°, it's not they hot right?
Otherwise, for the other possible reason you mentioned I have no idea how to check it.

Hi sebastien
For PLA you dont need an enclosure for Pla.
Cut the pla inside the bondtech chamber just above the bondtech gears..
Heat the hotend to at least pla temperAtures.
Grip the lunp of Pla with long nose pliers and pull it out of the idler window.

When the extruder is clear and reassembled
Try another print withe the enclosure heating off and the door open.

Regards Joan

Thanks for your reply . I will try so. I just removed the enclosure and indeed so far 4 hours without a problem.
The enclosure was mostly to make it less noisy and for when I'll print ABS.
I build the enclosure advertised on the prusa website.
Maybe puting a fan around the bondtech gear would make it for printing PLA while inside the enclosure ?

Something like that : https://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B073XKRMCW/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=ASCSOMXFMPVHB&psc=1
?

Re: Issue with the filament getting stuck

Hi Sebastien,

once you get the printer working reliably, you may find that a small fan will help,

it is likely that the heat build up in the enclosure, was what was causing you difficulties, maybe a couple of vents top and bottom of the enclosure would transfer the heat out whilst keeping the noise in...

then you could close the vents for ABS prints!

Sound like putting a fan fixed the problem.
I'll try some more but it looks good to me 🙂 !!
Thanks a lot for your help!!
