Fuses blowing

I need some advice. Suggestions?

History: I received my MK3 in March and I've had an issue with a fuse blowing (5amp fuse that connects to hot end). The problem comes and goes. I thought I had the problem narrowed down to poor stl files and I would go to netfabb and correct the issues before printing. This helped a lot. The number of fuses blown went down. Ive had to recalibrate today and during the self test Ive blown 3 fuses. This is really frustrating. I was planning to live with it because Im not getting any good answers from prusa. Ive gone so far as to order a stock of 5amp fuses from amazon.

I get great prints. I use it daily, but the fuse issue seems abnormal. Anyone else have this issue??

Re: Fuses blowing

You've got a sporadic short circuit somewhere, pal.

I'd stop printing immediately and disassemble the hotend completely, down to all cables. Most likely there is a twist in the wires going directly into the heater cartridge, or a broken cable shroud. Examine them closely. if you can't see anything wrong, tell Prusa chat you need a new heater cartridge. (most likely they send you a complete replacement hotend.)

edit; whoops, meant heater cartridge, not thermistor

Agreed. Jacob, you have something shorting which needs to be fixed right away. It is only that 5amp fuse stopping your printer and anything near it going up in flames potentially. Not something I would risk. A new heater cartridge is pretty cheap.
