Extruder Body: Stuck screw and Spinning M3NS nut

Hello,

This is my first time building a 3d printer and I have run into a slight problem. While inserting the m3ns nut into the slot in the extruder body and screwing in the M3x10 screw. Tried to unscrew it a little and the screw won't come out or loosen, in addition, the m3ns nut is spinning as I spin the screw. I don't know what to do without damaging the part. Any ideas on how to solve this? Also, I know this part is for the SuperPinda, if I am not able to fix this part is it ok to move on to the next steps?

Generally speaking, being careful when inserting screws is a requirement to avoid cross-threading them.  But I think we've all done it a few times in our lives. ps: if the nut is spinning, the part is already damaged.

To back the screw out of the nut, you might be able to use a fine screw driver as a wedge in the nut slot. Success will depend on just how forceful you were trying to tighten the screw in the first place. In some cases getting a new part is the best approach, and moving more slowly the next time. If a wedge won't work, you can try using pliers and gouge them into the plastic to hold the nut. Cosmetic damage can be fixed later by printing a replacement.

Another method is to fill the nut slot with epoxy to hold it in place while backing out the screw. But again, the part is toast at this point as the nut is bad and unusable. Generally reserve this technique for getting a cross-threaded part off a working printer.

@tim-2

Thank you for the advice, tried to wedge the nuts but it keeps causing the wedge to sink deeper into the body. Might need to order a new replacement.

Prusa are fairly helpful if you talk to tech support on web chat... they may just send you a new print F.O.C.

Don't ask, don't get 🙂
