RE: Downloadable Assembly Manual PDF

I was looking for the same thing, but no joy.

I finally ended up going to the online assembly manual and manually downloading each chapter and ended up with 13 pdf files with names like guide_1048_en.pdf. that I will have to rename someday. By not having a downloadable full version, I think they want you to use the online one so you will always have the updated info. as they can make changes easily and only have to maintain 1 copy.

That’s cool then, I didn’t notice the 3 dots that give us the option to download pdf. If you have the full version of acrobat I pretty sure you can combine the pdf, which 8 don’t have. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction 👍🏻👌🏻

Hello, it seems now the download option is completely removed. Could you please your PDF with me. My email is [email protected]. Thank you.

@aero-madhu22

I had to create 5 zip files to ensure that they would get through. I only have 12, but the website has 13 sections. I hope I am only missing the intro. I was sure that I had them all. Let me know if anything important is missing and I will look again. 5 emails coming at you.

I spent over CAD 1,000$ for a printer and I am not allowed to have a current copy of the manual. <>.

Thank you Kenn. Received your email 😊. Really appreciate your kind gesture. I understand your concern, latest manuals should be available for the community members who spent$1000.

I'm just curious why a bookmark doesn't fit the bill instead of saving the PDF?

I see downloadable manuals and kit guides available here. What else are you after?

I'm not sure if login is required to download (on mobile, can't test) but they're definitely available to anybody that paid for a printer and has logged in.

@bobstro , their position is that they want one fully assembled pdf for the "Assembly Manual" rather than a web form with separate downloadable chapters.

Not sure of the rationale, but that is the ask.

That's my question, I can't find the downloadable version. Just a web version with "prusa knowledge base".

Before I access it from: manual/prusa3d.com but it doesn't work anymore.

I do not have Internet access near where I assemble and modify that is why I am looking for the PDF version (not necessarily assembled) but printable.

Thank u

RE: Downloadable Assembly Manual PDF

I'm having difficulty following exactly what the complain is.

  1. The online manual is readily available.
  2. Kits include a paper guide. Is this still correct?

So the documentation is certainly freely available for anybody that wants it. When I read comments like "I spent over CAD 1,000₽ for a printer and I am not allowed to have a current copy of the manual" I have to think the complaint is actually that the manual is not provided in a format that is a personal preference.

Personally, I'd like to have all documentation in epub format so I can download and use it on my ebook reader, easily annotate and sync notes between multiple devices and all sorts of other capabilities that suit my personal workflow. That sure would be nice, but as my old Texas buddy put it "... and people in hell want icewater."

I can understand why Prusa wouldn't want to spend a lot of time and effort building PDFs that are quickly outdated and would make incorporation of the useful user comments difficult. The pages are color-coded, so a B&W printed document would be precarious to use. Pulling a PDF up on a computer is not much more convenient than accessing a web page. As I recall, the printed docs reference the online pages for current information. This seems to be a lot of drang and sturm over a preference. I just wish my other printer came with a fraction of the documentation that came with my Prusa.

RE: Downloadable Assembly Manual PDF

Your request is not unreasonable.

Like you, a lot of people have to deal with poor, intermittent, and at some times, no internet access. ☹️

I cannot afford to pay for a leased data line connection to my ISP and another line to a different ISP or city for backup. 😀 An off-line manual is very handy.

We used to be able to download sections of the on-line manual while viewing it. Not the entire manual at once, but at least the section you were viewing. There were 3 dots (…) in the top right corner that you could click on and download the section as a PDF file. I am glad I was able to download all of the sections and someone stitched them together for me so I can use it when doing maintenance on my printer, without having to worry about whether internet is available or not

The printed manual that came with my MK3S is great, but I could not make out the details of some of the images and had to get my son to check for me. My problem, not the manual.

The companies for every product that needs assembly that I have bought, even flat-pack shelving, makes an electronic version of the assembly manual available for download. They must think it makes good business sense.

This something that PR removed. I wish they would restore it.

RE: Downloadable Assembly Manual PDF

What's the update on this? I understand the value of having a "living document" online that's constantly updated, has a built in Q&A, and high res pictures. However, for my records, I want an exact electronic copy of the steps I followed during assembly. This would be helpful in the future for when I need to perform maintenance. I'm not even clear why this is a debate? Do you really want to try and decipher instructions that are subtly different than how *your* printer was put together?

Huh? They're already doing this when they print the manual they toss in the box. They could add a QR code on the printed manual that links directly to the PDF copy: "Click here to download this revision of the manual for your records."

RE: Downloadable Assembly Manual PDF

The paper version of the assembly manual is no longer included in the kit package.  Instead, there is a sincere apology from Jo Prusa stating that due to the "covid-19 situation" they temporarily ran out of the assembly manuals.  I understand that temporary delays happen but using an online manual is very inconvenient for me so I would much prefer to have a printable .pdf file.  I don't need for the manual I get to be a living document as I only intend to assemble the unit once.  It is not difficult at all to maintain a history of versions of a document online (available for download) so that if/when the maual changes, people would still be able get the one they need based on the printer version they bought.  This has made a very bad first impression!

@rc

THAT is a shame.  I have referred back to this manual at least once a month.

RE: Downloadable Assembly Manual PDF

I just received my MK3S+ kit today and it came with a printed assembly manual.  It also had a single page addendum for the changes new to the "+" upgrade.

Late update: A link to a PDF is now listed at the top of the X axis assembly instructions. I just downloaded a copy and it looks to be current.
