3 months later somethings wrong with the z axis

i bought the MK3s assembled and worked really well for several months. I haven't printed anything in a few months and it was doing fine when i last printed. Now coming back to it something is very wrong. its as if the z axis doesnt know where to stop. it goes to the top and clicks roughly for a few sec when attempting to calibrate, then moves down and grinds into the build plate. ive tried multiple self tests and calibrations. what could be going on?

Is the pinda sensor working, it should see the steel plate.

After not using a printer, I would clean rods and put oil on rods, move rods over the whole length, and then try to print.

A z-calibration should be enough, and then try to print.
