Color Swap By Layer Within App Slicer 2.0

So I have a model that I need to have swap from filament 1 to filament 2 at a certain layer height. I've tried to use the prusa color website to make the adjustments, but it stops the printer and makes me change out the filament. I saw someone use a box modifier to adjust settings before as well but it doesn't appear to be working for me (it says on the same extruder when it hits that point). I also tried to split the layer settings after slicing, but I can't figure out how to make it use a different extruder for different settings.

Finally, I tried to cut the model at that point, but I can't get the "upper" piece is stuck to the bed even when I try to shift the Z axis, it just moves back down to the bed.

Has anyone been able to print a single model with a different filament at a layer height through slicer 2.0? The original Prusa Slic3r allowed it so I feel like I'm missing something.

Do you use Prusa Slicer?  There is a filament change option in that Slicer.  See the picture I attached.

Slice the object FIRST.  Then on the LAYER screen

Use the LAYER meter and you can click the + sign and add a Filament.

I did that, but when I try to print after splitting the layers it doesn't change the filament it prints with. It's possible I had the wrong extruder selected?

Is it supposed to automatically move from "extruder 1" to "extruder 2"? Do I have to have the setting on the object set as "filament 1" or "default"? Or does it stop the print, do the beeps, and have me change my material by hand? (I can do that, but it wasn't the goal)

The option doesn't appear to be there when I'm in MMU mode either, just in the "single material" mode. I can adjust the layers but there's no "+" to select in the multi material mode.

You need to be in advanced or Expert mode to work with MMU extruder selection...

In this model

I imported a single STL which included the base and the text, I set this item to use extruder 1, which I had designated as Dark Blue

then I right clicked on the model and added a modifier > Box

This came in as a 25mm cube, aligned with the right hand side of the model, I clicked on the lock symbol in the right hand dialogue box to unlock the dimensions so that I could scale the X, Y and Z dimensions separately.
I made the modifier box about 110 x 35 x 3 mm
and used the manipulation tools, so that the modifier box enclosed the lower portion of the base, including some of the curvature around the top,
then  I right clicked on the modifier box again and chose 'Add Settings > Extruders'.

and then I chose perimeters, infill, and solid infill
in the  tool I chose extruder 5 for Perimeters, infill and Solid Infill.
these actions instructed Prusa Slicer to make the lower part of the model use extruder 5 (which I had designated Black).

then I right clicked on the model and added a modifier > Box

Again This came in as a 25mm cube, aligned with the right hand side of the model,  the scale lock was still disengaged
I made the modifier box about 800 x 35 x 2 mm
and used the manipulation tools, so that the modifier box enclosed the upper portion of the text, excluding all of the base,
then  I right clicked on the modifier box again and chose 'Add Settings > Extruders'.

and then I chose perimeters, infill, and solid infill
in the  tool I chose extruder 5 for Perimeters and extruder 3 for infill and Solid Infill.
these actions instructed Prusa Slicer to use extruder 5 (which was still designated Black) to print the perimeters of the letters, and extruder 3 which I had designated light blue, to do the infill and solid infill.
resulting in Light blue text with a black border, on top of a dark blue background, with a black frame and base...

I think I remembered all of the steps.

Oh!... I set the top and bottom infill to be Octogram Spiral, because I could... and because I like the effect.

I will attach a zipfile including the resultant project file which you can unzip and import if you wish, to play with a working set of instructions
regards Joan

RE: Color Swap By Layer Within App Slicer 2.0

when you run the G code on a Mk3 with MMU2,
the printer will select filament 5,  print the outline and purge tower base, then print the lower part of the model, it will outline the purge tower on every layer, at the colour change layer, the extruder will purge the old colour (black) from the nozzle, whilst backfeeding the black filament to the MMU2, then it will feed the Blue filament to the Nozzle and continue to purge the mixed dlack/blue filament onto the purge tower. when it believes the colour is clear, the printer will move back to the model and print the top of the base and maybe a layer or two, of the letters,
outlining the purge tower as it  goes.

when the printer gets to the section of light blue and black letters, it will first wipe the bark blue on the purge tower, then purge the light blue/dark blue waste and print the infill of the letters, then it will wipe the light blue and load the black, purge the light blue/black and print the letter outlines, then it will rise a layer, outline the purge tower, and print the outline for the letters, then wipe the black, and purge to light blue, printing the next two layers of infill, before switching back to black and so on until the end, where it will wipe what ever colour is left in the nozzle and feed that back to the MMU, ready for another print...
