Replaced X-axis motor on a MK2.5 and the E-steps are clearly miscalibrated

I just replaced the original x-axis motor on my Mk2.5 with a motor purchased directly from Prusa's store. The listing says it's compatible with MK2, MK2.5, and MK3 machines. Both machines use 1.8deg steppers and as far as I can tell it's the same part. However, the x-axis step/mm is clearly way off. When I tried to print, the homing sequence moved all the way off the bed. When I tried moving the axis through the menu, I was seeing motion around 20% farther than it should have been (what should have been 50mm was more like 60mm). I have no idea why this would happen, especially since the store listing says the parts are all compatible. I don't really want to manually calibrate my steps/mm, but I can't find anything that indicates a simpler answer

Best Answer by MakingThingsCLT:

WHOOPS! When I swapped the motor I used a new toothed pulley which was the incorrect diameter. Swapped out for the old one and everything is fine.
