Layer Shifts at same height

Hi Guys.

I have a weird problem.
After upgrading my MK2S to the MK2.5 I have had some layer shifts. The first directly with the first print (needed to reprint the Rambo Case...)
Everytime on the same height I got a layer shift - but only on the Y-axis. I tried everything. Checked the belt on the Y-axis, checked if the filament sensor is maybe causing the problem. Checked if the SD Card could be the problem.
At some point the print came out ok and without a layer shift. Then I had no shifts for some time till now.

For the attached GCode file (the motor cover of Daniel Norées OpenRC F1 car) I had layer shifts - every single print on the same height.
Again I tried everything (this time except the SD Card check) and nothing worked (my belts are at a good tension!).
So it got me thinking. Maybe there is a little calculation error in the firmware (I now that floating point calculation or calculations in general on an 8-bit microcontroller are not easy). I remember that with the MK3 there were more layer shift problems than with the MK2.
So I tried the newest firmware (3.1.4) for the MK2.5 - but it didn't help.

So yesterday I downgraded back to the MK2S and calibrated it. And the print with the same GCode file worked flaweless!

As the only change in the mechanics of the Y-axis was to replace the bed (didn't touch the belt!) I think that my assumption of a bug in the firmware might be correct. But I'm not sure enough to file an issue.

Maybe some of you guys (with a MK2.5 or maybe MK3) could testprint attached GCode file and post their results here?
Would be nice so we together can track down the bug.

Greetings
Christoph

P.S.:
Only thing I didn't tested was to move the object on the platter. Maybe that was the solution for the first layer shift problem I had.

I realize the post is almost a year old now but did you ever solve this? I'm having the exact same problem and pulling my hair out over it. I'm nearly at the point of buying a new rambo and power supply to see if that fixes anything as all the tuning, lubing and tension adjustments haven't seem to do anything for it.

Y-Axis shifts at the same height almost every time.

Did you solve your shifting problems?  I just upgraded an MK2S to MK2.5S and I'm seeing the same issue.  It's driving me nuts.

Did any of you guys ever solve this?  Late to the party with the same issue.

Same issue here, and I see there are NO answers even though the original post was from 2019. I'm printing out a series of parts for the ZenXY Sand Table, and everything worked fine for the first 10 prints. Then, I started experiencing a layer shift at the same height on every print. Nothing changed; I've been printing part after part. Prusa MK3, latest firmware, latest PrusaSlicr. PETG filament.

RE: Layer Shifts at same height

I had a similar issue about a year ago, in where all my prints got quite a large shift after about 2cm of printing (consistent z-height each print).

It might not be the same issue, but in my case I found the culprit to be the "silence mode" or whatever it is called on the device (stepper motors are more quiet but do not track their actual position). With a bit of luck this may be the issue for you as well?
