Better Cooling Solutions?

I'm trying to get better part cooling with my MK2.5S. As a lot of people know, the current stock shrouds work well when overhangs or bridges are pointed towards it, but it suffers on the backside, with thermal runaway at higher fan speeds. I decided to try different shrouds to see if I can get nice, even cooling, but all the shroud's I've tried ended up doing bad, even cooling. The MK2.5 and MK3 extruders have more mods and shrouds over the MK2.5S and MK3S, some which seem to perform well:

RH_Dreambox has a shroud for the MK*S printers, but I feel like it doesn't perform as well as the well-loved MK3 Rev C.

I've reprinted all the parts for the older MK2.5 extruder to swap out my MK2.5s parts with, as I feel like that extruder has more  I don't use the filament sensor, so changing the extruder will not be a problem for me. Do you think this is necessary?

In an attempt to prevent said extruder swap out, I changed out my radial fan (the MK2.5(S) runs a 12v fan) to one with a higher rpm to see if that made any difference, but the result was the same. I read somewhere that Prusa limits the rpm of the part cooling fan; is there any way to remove this limit so I can use the full fan potential? I was told that this would void my warranty, but my warranty is long done at this point.

Looking forward to the help

RE: Better Cooling Solutions?

Hi

I'm using RH Dreambox's "CS" duct on my 2.5S... it seems ok.  I'm probably going to return to the standard duct and see if there's any difference.

So far as the part cooling fan speed control, the MK2.5S has no fan speed monitoring for the 2 wire 12v part cooling fan, so it has no way of limiting the speed other than setting a power level to the fan motor and assuming the speed is correct.  As the original part fan is rated for 4500rpm (I think), using a different fan should result in different airflow amount.

The MK3S does monitor the 3 wire 5v part cooling fan speed and both the 2.5S and 3S can monitor the 3 wire 5v hotend fan speed.

If you like the old extruder better, you might as well use it. But didn't the 2.5 already have a filament sensor?     As the parts fan attaches to the extruder cover, perhaps there is some way to put the older cover, fan and duct on the newer extruder?

Good Luck!
