Upgrade jitters

Hi, I have an i3 MK2.

I bought the upgrade kit for the 2/S to 2.5S conversion.

I went to download parts to print, and got a little worried.  The parts say 2S to 2.5S.  Are those the ones I need?

I see parts for 2 to 2S conversions.  Do I need those first, or instead of the 2S to 2.5S.

thanks

RE: Upgrade jitters

I did the Mk2 to Mk2.5 S recently as one complete upgrade.  The only part you need from the MK2 to MK2s is the  Y-distance block, fits behind the Y motor and improves the motor mount stability.  In fact mine did not even touch, so it does not do anything.

The major upgrade to the Mk2s is the replacement of all the linear bearings and rods, no new plastic parts needed there, although I did print spares of the X and Y motor and end mounts, just I case I broke one getting the bearings out.  Were not needed.

All the other parts from Mk2 to Mk2s, like the X carriage, extruder body and Rambo case, are replaced anyway in the Mk2s to Mk2.5S upgrade, so you only need the Mk2s to Mk2.5s plastic parts

So the 2 to 2S will give me new rods and bearings.  Can I do that later?  Just live with the old ones for now?

Are the new bearings and rods better? Quieter maybe?

I think I will proceed without the rods and bearings for now.  Unless you think that is a mistake.

thanks

I did not find much difference with the new rods and bearings, but I suspect they are better long-term.  The travel seems smoother.

Certainly you can do that later, but since you have to just about disassemble all the printer axes to do both upgrades, seemed to me easier to just do the lot in one go.  The rods and bearings are an easy job to replace, much easier than rebuilding the X carriage and extruder.  Doing both together seemed to me to be more sensible.

RE: Upgrade jitters

I don't see a mk2 to mk2S upgrade kit offered.  Am I just missing it someplace?

Also, I'd thought about replacing my hot end assembly at the same time as this upgrade.  I have "stressed" the wires to the hot end a few times in the past.  I'd like to start with a new one if possible.  But, I don't see the part as available on Prusa's website.

Thanks,

John F.

Just to get the obvious out of the way: Are you logged into your web store account when looking? Many parts are only available to verified purchasers.
