Perfect MK2 now poor briding after 2.5 upgrade...
Well my fears (mentioned in another post) have been realized to a degree. I just upgraded a great MK2 to MK2.5 and now filament bridging is horrible. I have printed 6 3dbencies, using three different filaments, using both Slic3r and Simplify3d and they all have the same poor result.
The cooling on the bow and all facets of the lower part of the boat are great. But, when it gets to the cabin windows and cabin ceiling, the filament sags horribly around each window, door, and roof of the cabin. I am using the stock settings with Slic3r provided by Prusa. I am have also selected "detect bridging" setting in S3D. So far, nothing I have tried makes a difference.
I cannot figure out why the sudden problem. I used the new R3 extruder parts when upgrading, including the new tilted fan setup.
I am not sure how to approach solving this problem, but what confuses me more is why the difference?

The difference is almost certainly due to settings in Slic3r. There are specific settings for travel speed while bridging, fan speed while bridging, and bridge flow ratio. If you can dig up your old settings for these three parameters and plug them into your new Slic3r it should put you back where you were (the upgraded printer has better cooling, so it should actually be better than before). Also, note that layer height makes a big difference when bridging; with a 0.4mm nozzle, don't try to bridge with less than 0.2mm layer height.

I will give these a shot, but I would have thought the default settings in Slic3r would have dealt with this already. I have the latest firmware, drivers, and slic3r software. There are options in slic3r for MK2, MK2.5 and Mk3. So, why there is only a problem with the MK2.5 when using the defaults is what is totally confusing me. Not to mention Simplify3D having the same issues.
So, I will try what you have mentioned, but the fact that I need to is what does not make any sense to me.

I've been 3D printing since January 2013 (mostly on a Printrbot, just recently upgraded to Prusa). In my experience, the settings in the slicer should not be regarded as "black box". Any "presets" are just starting points. The more you look at them, play with them, study the results, and so on the better you will be at improving the results on your particular printer with the particular filaments that you use and for the particular type of printing you typically want to do (i.e. large objects or small; toys and sculptures for games or decoration; mechanical parts for drones or models; upgrades to your printer, etc. etc.). I can't speak to how the presets were determined for the 2.5, but they were created by humans. I've downloaded slicer settings that were supposedly optimized for TPU filament, for example, and just looking at them I knew that there were a couple of parameters I needed to adjust before I even tried one print. That kind of knowledge comes from experience. Dive in, experiment, and have fun! 🙂

I understand what you are saying and would agree. I guess I did not provide enough information to explain why I am perplexed by the appearance of this problem.
The MK2 that I upgraded has been in service for well over a year and never had this problem. I have an MK3 that has been in service since about February of this year that has never had this problem. I have been using the same brand filament in both printers (including the very rolls that are failing now) in both printers. Now after upgrading the MK2 to an MK2.5 the problem shows up. The only variable change is the upgrade.
I am at work now so I cannot check, and I have not gone to far as to compare the bridging settings between the the MK2, Mk3, and MK2.5 settings to see what, if any, differnce there is.... But aside from the upgrade, I dont think anything changed. I guess the next step would to be to download the PRUSA sliced MK2.5 benchy, if there is one, and see what happens.

Not just the upgraded parts but the upgrader too, and the parts that got printed. obviously an airflow issue somehow, i would check that first? i don't have that on my 2.5 so the upgrade itself isn't the reason unless it's the new R3 fan, since i don't have that yet. i'm upgrading to full bear.
