Can I print without the filament sensor?

So I am a dummy. I had preprinted the mk2.5 upgrade parts beforehand but I received the mk2.5s kit.

I had mistakenly assumed that the parts were going to be pretty much the same for the extruder head. The problem is that I need to reprint the mk2.5s parts but I’ve already disassembled my mk2s and cut the rubber belt down to size for the mk2.5 upgrade.

So, I’m an idiot. If I continue to assemble the mk2.5 to print the 2.5s parts, can I still print if I don’t use the filament sensor?

The 2.5s sensor is a different size from 2.5

If it's anything like the Mk3, the S upgrade can be done without the new sensor, I was told by support it is simply disabled if it is not sensed. So while you can print, it (obviously) won't detect filament.

You can, when you switch on printer will detect the sensor, if not present it will disable that feature, otherwise you can disable at menu by yourself

RE: Can I print without the filament sensor?

The MK2.5 sensor is different than the MK2.5S sensor, and worse than that, there are actually TWO MK2.5S configurations. Yes, its a mess. The MK2.5 sensor was optical. The MK2.5S standard uses a ball bearing. The MK2.5S for the MMU2 uses even a different setup.
