I'm sorry, please be more precise. Do you own MK2 and thinking of upgrading to MK2S? What's the purpose of the question? It might help to give you a better answer.

Re: What is the difference between a Mk2 and a Mk2S?

I am currently using an Mk2 and wondered what the advantages of upgrading are. Does it make a difference to how the printer performs or does it make it more reliable or something?

I am trying to understand the different upgrade options. I can see the items in the Mk2S to Mk2.5with the removable bed, new extruder head, fan and sensors - which even to me I can see the difference.

But with the Mk2 to Mk2S it is polished rods and different bearings plus U bolts. If I do this upgrade, will I notice a difference.

Honestly I am not trying to awkward, I am just trying to understand if the upgrade is worth doing?

Thanks for your help.

Re: What is the difference between a Mk2 and a Mk2S?

I did that upgrade just because I'm printing a lot and my Y-rods where rattling a little bit. So I was looking for new rods with bearings anyway.
The new shaped U-holder are also pretty nice.
If you have no issues right now, I wouldn't go for an update to MK2S. In my eyes it's more a reliability upgrade. I saw no quality improvements in my prints. But I would suggest you to purchase an MK2S kit and once you have to do a big maintenance, you can replace this wearing out parts.

MK2.5 upgrade doesn't make sense to me at all. The cost difference to MK3 is just a little bit. I went for a new printer MK3 and kept my MK2. This way I have an option to do MMU upgrade on one of those printers.

The Mk2S also has revised Cable strain relief for the back of the Extruder.

I kept my original Mk1 Rods and Bearings, and revised the Mk2 X axis Carriage configuration to give better strain relief, and saved the cost of the Mk2S upgrade, I did buy some of the Y bearing Ubolts, but mislaid them before they were fitted...
