Rod length
The rods for my X axis seem to be too long. See picture. I may not have inserted the rods far enough into the parts, but they won't come out of the stepper motor end, so it's hard to tell.

The picture doesn't seem to have been attached and I'm at work now :(. I'll attach it when I get home.
I can't have picked the wrong rods: the instructions say use the longest rods for this, and all the others are definitely the right length.

The rods are 370mm. The manual doesn't say how long they should be. Is that correct?

Hole depths are 37mm at motor side, 27.5mm at idler side.
Visible rod length is 306mm on my printer. It means that rods should be fully inserted into printed parts. You will have to remove them, clear holes of all debris and insert rods again.

I got the rods out. There's no obvious 'debris'. I marked the correct depth on the rod, carefully supported the part in a vice, and hit the rod with a plastic mallet until it went in.
