print quality

Hi guys,

I updated the firmware, did the new v2 calibration (bed sticking much better), but I am now getting vertical bands/ribs on the print every 10mm (vertically). I have this come into my prints only after the latest firmware. Printed the included objects to make sure not a slicer issue. See the whistle.

also printed the gear bearing, has bad edge finish, not sure if it is connected, and any reason why it does not print a top, is the gcode correct (can't see any reason why it did not finish it if the file is correct).

Thanks in advance for your advice/help.

Re: print quality

I'm going to raise this post from the dead (old post).

About the 8mm banding- 8mm is the same as the diameter of the threaded rod I think. It probably means you have a bent threaded rod or one of your motors on Z axis is out of alignment. If you made a change to the Z axis top supports to capture the threaded rods at the top- remove the mod. This is probably the cause of the issue.

About the gear bearing print issues (underextrusion), I was having the same issue! That model has alot of retractions and a tendency to cause underextrusion/clogs. It would be better it setup for fewer/shorter retractions. For me I managed to make it work by increasing the temp from the default 210 up to 225 and did NOT change the file. It would have been better to reslice it with less retractions but this also did the trick. Before increasing the temp I verified I wasn't grinding filament. I also tried restarting the print at a LOWER temp. After these two things didnt work I started increasing the temp 5C at a time until the problem went away. 225 did it.
