Overhanges Curling Up

I recently switched from PLA and ABS to PETG. While trying to print a part with PETG, all the overhanges curl up and inwards cause a bowl like shape. After some time, the nozzle will collide with the curling portion and lift part of the print off the bed. Thus causing the print to fail. I've read that slowing the print down helps. I tried that and it didn't. I then went to try printing the part in ABS and the same problem occurred. I lowered the print temp, re-leveled the bed, slowed the print down but nothing is working. Even adding supports didn't help. Is this a common problem or are there tricks that help to fix it?
