New MK2S cable stress relief on MK2 extruder body.

I was wondering if the new cable strain release can be installed in the original MK2 extruder body by using a M3x40 screw in the nylon filament hole.
I like to have the cable strain release but I do not want to print an entire new extruder body just for that reason.

Thanks
Marco

Hi Marco,

I do not think you can,

the M3-40 is maintained by a bolt on the other side of the extruder body, for which there is no room in the original extruder body.

I'm like Jon Snow, I know nothing.

Since the STL files for the current parts, you could print an adapter that will fit and possible glue it into place.

The new piece could be hollow in the middle which would allow a metal to be inserted.

The metal piece could be a steel rod from a coat hanger or thick metal instrument string from a bass guitar.

You only need to print the MK2S X-carriage as it is compatible with the MK2 extruder assembly. The job was easy as I didn't even have to disconnect any wires, just unwrap the spiral wrap back aways.
I varied from the MK2S instructions when reassembling as I put in the bolt for the cable holder before mounting the extruder back on. The hole that the hex nut goes in wasn't good and nut may have spun if done later.

Not saying it is possible, nor am I saying it isn't possible, but before the MK2S was announced, about a month ago, fairly certain it was on Reddit or maybe the Prusa Slack, but someone stuck a nail in that hole & created a similar solution, and then zip tied the filament & wires to it.

For the nail solution, see this thread:

You can use copper wire used from the AC house wiring:

I am hoping someone can design a solution based on mounting the fan on the back:
