Re: New firmware 3.0.11- MK2S/MK2

Seems to work fine (and fixed bugs from RC1).
Thanks!
I might suggest making the wait for long press a little longer. I've found that there is sometimes confusion between selecting a file to print and getting the z move. I love the quick access to z move, but selecting a file to print still takes a little patience.

Next on my wishlist would be an extruder calibration process built in. Lots of knowledgeable folks say it's important, but it takes some looking in the forum here to find the process with pronterface or using the move extruder command.

The PID tuning works great, my hot end temperatures are far more stable now, I used to have a constant 2-3 degree oscillation, now typically get a single oscillation when the temperature is reached and it is rock solid after that (rarely deviates more than 0.1 degrees).

Re: New firmware 3.0.11- MK2S/MK2

Please set number of circles of PID tuning to at least 8 or more !

I've some oscillation wtih only 5 slopes.

wishlist :
- remove the suffix from the printing files (.gcode) for better reading (scrolling) of the text of larger filenames
- a library for accessing OLED displays (the WS0010 controller is not fully HD44780 compatible, there are some differences in the initialisation routines)
- ESD protection (only reachable with new hardware or LCD cover)

Re: New firmware 3.0.11- MK2S/MK2

Great with z-move on long press! It was annoying going through all the sub menus to raise the extruder after each print... Thanks.
Agree. 5 PID cycles is too less, 8-10 cycles would be better.

Wish list:
* Avoid extrusion after color change (M600 inserted by Prusa Colorprint tool). When the filament is changed, I have wiped the tip and press the button it just has to extrude a gunk of filament and put it on a delicate part of the model...
* A way to change preheat temperatures without recompiling firmware.

Have a look at my models on Printables.com 😉

which firmware shall I choose for a MK2S, or what's the difference between 10a and 13a ?

There were 2 versions of mini RAMBo shipped. The V1.0 was only shipped with very early Mk1 printers, so unless you have upgraded from one of those, you should have the 1.3 version.

It is very easy to check (Google is your friend) as the form factors are quite different.

Re: New firmware 3.0.11- MK2S/MK2

the difference is the version of the mini rambo board.
the first i3 mk1 were delivered with version 1.0a of that board and you could update the mk1 to an mk2. so prusa still provides versions to update these early mk2's.

the later mk2 and the mk2s comes along with mini rambo version 1.3a, so that'll be your choice !

Hi all,
Can't load the new firmware until the current print is complete! Sometime tomorrow probably.

Is the the PID tune straight forward or are there some instructions? I guess once I can run it I will find out!!

Really looking forward the the direct Z access!

Re: New firmware 3.0.11- MK2S/MK2

You just set the temperature for which calibration should be done and that's it.

Ok, thanks. If I print mainly PLA and PETG just pick one of those temps or something in between? What do you guys recommend?

Re: New firmware 3.0.11- MK2S/MK2

What stored settings are lost, if any, during a firmware update? Will it be starting from scratch again with having to redo all calibrations, Z axis config, PID tuning, etc. or will anything be retained?

I've noticed in earlier firmware that the printer seems to lockup after PID tuning, does this fix that?

All Z values and calibration will retain. Although you may want to remember current Z value and redo calibration since its been updated. Not a huge deal.

PID tuning does not lock up printer and even easier since you can do it in the calibration menu.

**ASK**
Now that PID bed tuning is in the firmware, can you add that to the calibration menu as well?

Thanks for all the hard work.

Re: New firmware 3.0.11- MK2S/MK2

New firmware loaded - no issues and basic calibrations good.

For temp calibration. Is it as simple as selecting the calibration and letting it run? Then selecting the PID one and a temp and let it run?

Great, I think I was stupid to crush my Nozzle in the print bed but it was a firmware glitch that has now been fixed:

Stop print improved:

Stopping print right at the end of heatbed/nozzle preheat phase at the beginning of print could led to crashing nozzle into heatbed. This has been fixed.

And I orderd a new printbed 😥

Re: New firmware 3.0.11- MK2S/MK2

I'm a bit confused with the PID tuning setting.

The default setting is 210. Do I assume this relates to the use of PLA filament?

If this is the case, does it mean that whenever I change filament types, I will need to rerun PID tuning, using values of 210 if using PLA and 255 if using ABS?

Cheers,

Steve

now that the firmware supports pt100 , is there any tutorial how to upgrade to pt100+amp setup ?

That is exactly the reason why I have the PID values in filament GCode and not EEPROM...
