About to buy Mk3!!

Hello, first time poster here, please be gentle.

I've been gathering money for quite some time and about to buy the Prusa i3 MK3 (kit). I've done as much research as I could and so far the mk3 is near flawless. However I've heard some rumors that they're having trouble keeping up demand and/or quality and to loose this cash would be at best demoralizing. Is this a bad time to purchase an mk3?

just the mk3. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

take your time while putting it together. learn how it works. and enjoy the fun single printing bliss.
standard PEI sheet works great.

consider getting an extra hot end temperature probe. you wont be in the club until you've made your first blob of doom.

I have a Prusa,therefore I research.

They are slow getting them out, but delivery times have improved considerably in recent months and Prusa has kept us informed. I waited 4 months. I think the wait is 2 weeks for the Mk3 now. It's like ordering any hot item - you have to wait and be patient if you want it. Prusa will keep you updated, but times do slip.

The biggest problem has been with the powder-coated sheets, which is due to a manufacturing problem. Prusa has withdrawn them from sale.

I wouldn't worry about the money disappearing -- Prusa is good on that count -- but it may take a while. Whether it's worth it is up to you. I'm very glad I waited.

You will very quickly forget all about the wait time once it arrives. As Mike mentions, the wait time used to be many months. It is now only a few weeks. I waited about 3 months, but the most difficult wait was the 5 days from the "shipping now" message until it actually arrives.

It is a great printer. I recommend it to anyone.
