The Spitfire again 🙂

Dear all,

I hope everyone is staying safe these days.

Like most people, I work from home these dayss, what gives me a little more time to print 🙂 I have my MK2S for about 3 years now, and it has always been producing super prints, until now...

I decided to print the Spitfire, and I am getting deformation on the edges of the parts; retraction issues? I am using the G-Code provided in the Slicer bundle (from the MK2 folder), and printing is being done with the Prusa silver PLA. This deformation will become an issue when sticking the wings together...

I read a few other threads on the spitfire, but all seem to be a few years old, and no proper solution was found.

Any idea how to solve this issue? Thank you very much.

Fedor4mac, I have had Mk3 and Mk3S, not a 2S - question: are the pictures of a print directly on the print bed or does the 2s not have a detachable build plate?

Cheers

@neil-t the Mk2S does not have a detachable plate, it is printing directly on the bed. The pictures were actually taken during the printing process. The "warping", if that is the correct term, seem to be getting worse as the print continues.

Thanks!

Fedor4mac, Yes, sorry for my post - I pressed Add Reply before I'd finished searching the interweb for pictures of the 2S - irritatingly forum had timed out for my deleting or editing my post. I was not aware that PLA warped, so much I haven't had that problem myself. Sorry that I can't help.

Cheers

@fedor4mac

Reduce the temperature to about 205-215 degree and use a brim. Coolingfanspeed 70-100% after the 3rd layer. The Firstlayer should be set exactly and the bed should be absolutly clean.

@karl-herbert

Thanks a lot for your answer. My first hunch was as well the temperature, seems a bit high compared to when I slice with the Prusa Slicer. I will try that, thanks.

In regards to the brims, good idea as well, but as the spitfire already comes in a G-code, can this be done? Is it possible to add it manually into the g-code? If yes, could you advise how? I tried to google it, but no luck so far 🙂

Thanks a lot!
