Very Hot Z axis motor

I have a Mk2 that runs great, however the left Z motor always stays Hot even when not printing.  Comparing the two Z motors the Left one is about 47deg, but the right one is only 36deg.  Has anyone else noticed that one of their Z motors gets much hotter than the other?  Is this a mechanical issue where the motor is slightly binding, or do I have a issue developing that I need to fix before failure?

RE: Very Hot Z axis motor

Sorry for not beeing able to help - I have two printers in i3 style - on both of them the two steppers for z axes have more or less the same temperature. Are yours still the original steppers from Prusa or was one of them replaced? As I know both of these steppers are controlled from the same controller - they are conneced in parallel so I don´t unterstand why one is becomming hotter than the other.

Best regards, Clemens

Try changing the stepper plugs. If the left side still gets warm, there is probably a faulty driver or wrong FW settings, otherwise the stepper is not wired correctly or damaged.
