Stops before start of print, No error message.

I hope somebody can help me. I have an issue with my i3 Mk2S.  When I start a print, it goes through the preheating and level checking stages fine.  The moment the extruder lowers to the correct printing height, it freezes.  The moment this happens, the percentage completed counter starts to increase around 1% ever 2 seconds.  When it reaches 100%, the heaters turn off, just like the print is finished.  No error messages appear.

The problem is temperamental and if it gets past that stage, the rest prints with no issues.  It also never fails to print using PronterFace on my laptop via USB.

I do not know if this issue is connected, but a couple of months ago the heat bed heater plug/socket on the Rambo melted.  From the forum, it looks like this issue is pretty common.  I do not know if excess heat caused any other damage.  Following advice, I fixed it by soldering the wires directly to the back of the board, bypassing the plug.

Another small issue is that the SD card breaks contacts with the slightest knock if the card is entirely in. If I pull it back 1-2mm, this stops.

The things I have tried to fix it are:

  • Tested power supply voltage (Solid 12.04v)
  • Unplugged wires and replugged them back in (Rambo and LCD)
  • Print other files
  • Reformatted SD card
  • Replaced SD card
  • Remade the GCode files using the latest PrusaSlicer
  • Reflashed the firmware from 3.2.3 to a fresh 3.2.3
  • Reverted to Firmware 3.1.0

I do not mind buying a new part, I would just like to know what people think it could be and any ideas for extra tests to find out.
