Strange text and characters during and after calibration!

I start calibrating xyz on my Prusa i3 MK2
* Calibration 1-4 point
first point no problem
calibration point 2, strange text, see picture

* calibration 1-9 point
calibration 1-9 points it starts with blank LCD screen, see picture

and when calibration is complete, strange text and characters are displayed, see picture?!?!?!

everything has worked before and my Prusa i3 MK2 has firmware 3.2.3.

What could be wrong?

RE: Strange text and characters during and after calibration!

If this happens every time then there could be a couple of things wrong:

1. The LCD cables could be loose try re-seating them.

2. If it only happens when calibrating then try re-flashing the firmware as something may have gone wrong with the firmware flashed to the machine.

3. If this happens in multiple menus the the lcd could be broken or the cables for the lcd could be damaged, I would say that this is highly unlikely.

Try doing the first idea and if this happens again try the second and tell us what you get.

I have checked all the cables and can not see any damage, I have removed all the cables and put them back. And re-flash firmware.
Still the same problem!

Today when the printer was running I would go into the menu to adjust z. When I turned the LCD knob the text disappeared. The text on the LCD came back after the printer had finished printing.

Ok, I would say the the LCD is damaged, do you know if it has been directly touched quite a few times before as there is a possibility that it could have been shocked from static electricity, this happened to mine and may others before. Fortunately my printer was under warranty at the time and Prusa support replaced the LCD, however in your case your printer probably won’t be under warranty (Normally 2 years). So you will have to source one yourself, which can be tricky as the most common lcd for printers doesn’t quite work and require some adjustment. Buying one directly from prusa can be expensive with shipping as well.

LCD has been directly touched only a few times when I upgraded and when I assembled the printer.

Living in Sweden. It was a good price, you know if it is available in the EU?

Previously I had BuiltTak but MK2 cannot be recalibrated. You need to remove the extra BuildTak plate that is pasted on the hot plate

Last Friday I made the latest update to put neodymium magnets under the heating plate to use a flexplate. The magnets I used were many and powerful about 30-35pcs. Now have 12 pieces under the plate and it works well.

Maybe it could have been the magnets that caused the LCD to break, thinking if it became too strong a magnetic field? 1 magnet has a strength of 5.3kg

now i have tried a new LCD and unfortunately it did not solve the problem. Must be something else that creates the problem. Have also tried re-flash firmware again

Did the new LCD come with cables, if so did you use them as the old ones may have been damaged but the damage was hidden. If not then I can only say that the rambo may be damaged, check the rambo’s lcd connectors for any signs of damage. You may want to also contact prusa support at this point as they may have better diagnosis of this problem

For anyone still installing this upgrade, I just installed the kit and I got the screen full of symbols followed by repeated failures to locate the point on number 3.  Then just happened to see from the back side that a zip tie holding the extruder wiring was hitting the frame.  I turned the zip tie so the bulky end part was not on the side, reran the calilbration and everything went fine.
