Re: Simplify3D print settings

Simplify3D is one of my main slicer applications. I paid a great deal for it and I'd really like to use it more often however, ever since I switched to the Prusa i3 I have found that the Simplify3D settings are rather inferior to the settings offered for Slic3r. Do you at all plan to further expand on Simplify3D so that it is on par with Slic3r?

I do,
the trouble is their dumb system for managing materials and print detail settings. Basically I need to create FFF file for every detail and material settings combination. Also their support is ridiculously slow and bad making it bit harder for me to cooperate with them.

What other printers do you use with Simplify3D?

Re: Simplify3D print settings

At the moment I use it for my Custom CTC which it does quite well as I spent a great deal of time tweaking and building on the printer and after trying many other slicer solutions this one worked best for me. I also appreciate the rapid pace at which it can slice projects and allow me to have a nice easy to use print preview pane. Granted I still use Slic3r from time to time, I do find the lengthy delays in slicing quite annoying.

With the Prusa I exclusively use Slic3r and while it works great I really would love to unify my platforms.

I am willing to assist in testing and feedback should that be of any use to you.

Thank you!

As I wrote in my first post 🙂 Over the time I will be adding more or tweaking them according to your feedback.

Re: Simplify3D print settings

Thanks for the setting! I use S3D as well for all 4 of printers (all 4 are Originals , 3 1st gen, and 1 Mk2! )

Ive been pretty happy with the S3D settings for the Mk1's.

Will definitely provide feedback for these new settings for the mk2 once i have it put together. As pyr3x said, my main reason for using s3d over slic3r is speed of slicing ( i work through alot of files) and customizable support structures, (also supports break off alot easier)

Re: Simplify3D print settings

Hi,

I thanks for the setting, it works very well.
I've played with it all day.
The only remark I can make for now is about the printing fan, it doesn't stop at the end of the printing like it does on slicer.
The M107 is missing on the gcode generated by simplify3D, I've added it on the ending script.
Maybe there is a cleaner way, but I'm just getting started with simplify3D.

Re: Simplify3D print settings

The S3d settings did not work well for me. It seemed to under extrude and I noticed it was set to extrusion multiplier of 0.90. Is this what you recommend? I changed it to 1.0 but it did not work as well as your slic3r settings. can you advice please?
Also your start script was missing so i copied it from slice.

Thanks

Foo

Re: Simplify3D print settings

Are you sure you have imported the settings correctly ?
I don't remember to have the extrusion multiplier under 1.
And I definitely have the starting/ending script (the only thing missing is the m107 on the ending script).

I thought I had, it seems to setup an FFF profile, with other info, but I am new to S3D only just got it on Friday, can you please confirm what I should be seeing?

Thanks for you're input.

Re: Simplify3D print settings

Any chance we can create a github repo so we can keep track of these?

Re: Simplify3D print settings

Curious, since Simplify3d is commercial if we should be banging on them to get us the FFF's?

Or you could experiment and create your own profiles...

This is what I've done. You can just compare the Slic3r settings and make similar adjustments to the Simplify3d profile- has been working fine so far printing pla/abs for me.

I have added "M107 ; stop colling fan" to my ending script. It works fine for me 😀

Re: Simplify3D print settings

Keep in mind M107 is deprecated for turning off the print fan. You can use "M106 S0" going forward.

Only in "Teacup" and "RepRap". We are using Marlin in which it is not.

Re: Simplify3D print settings (July 7, 2016)

UPDATE July 7, 2016
I managed to squeeze all the settings into one FFF file by editing it manually. Feel free to try it out and give me feedback.
