PETG not sticking

Hi everyone,

Some time back now, we have bought a 3D Prusa i3 MK 2,5 S. We never had any (major) problems with it but recently we bought PETG from Prusa. Until now, we only have had one workpiece turn out well (cannot replicate this) So we wanted to try something else, but the problem seems to be the sticking of the first layer.
Does anyone else seems to have had this problem (and has solved it)?

The only time it worked we did not use any gluestick. We use the PrusaSlicer with 0,15 Optimal Settings voor PETG. It is also not a difficult piece to print (not in the slightest, first layer is almost a perfect oval with a 10cm/5cm diameter).

I hope some of you can help me!

Kind regards,

Philip

To clarify,

I have tried a raft, a brim and adjusting Z height (among other things).

RE: PETG not sticking

Have you tried giving your print bed an ISA or acetone clean to "reset" the surface?  Three lessons learned from printing PETG, which has replaced PLA as my go-to filament:

1) Glue sticks are a pain.  It's very easy to over-apply, or to apply unevenly, which creates a lot of adhesion headaches.  I only use these days for very large prints, and then only after applying a little bit and spreading around with Windex (see below) for an even coat.

2) For routine printing of small/medium prints (< ~50 cm^2 contact area) Windex works much more consistently than glue sticks.

3) ISA is a very effective release agent.  When your print is done, squirt ISA liberally around the edge you plan to lift off your print bed, adding as needed.  With Windex and ISA in combination, my over- or under-adhesion problems have essentially gone away.

Good luck!

Ned
