Need suggestions for stuff to print?

Have you ever got to the point in hobby 3d printing where you thought to yourself, "I have this awesome machine, but don't know what to print!"

Because that's where I am.

I've got some ASA filament that I'm using to iterate on a part design at work with my Prusa Mini (kudos to Josef Prusa and his team for this machine by the way, I wish I'd had something like this when I first got into the hobby in 2015 and couldn't afford the "real" Prusa), but once I'm done with that I'm going to be left with some PETG and PLA that I've got no ideas what to do with.

I'll probably use the PETG to print a bunch of face mask ear saver strips, but for the PLA I'm stuck trying to figure out some neat artistic-looking things to print.

For example, I'd like to print some vase-mode-style floral objects, but there don't seem to be any good models that fit that description on Thingiverse/here. Something like the various vase-mode christmas trees and the Maoi statue, but where the vase outline resembles different flowers in an arrangement. There are several models with independent bodies, but no surface/skin overlay that will allow for good vase-mode pathing.

I'm considering digging up my old Simplify3D license and seeing how that advanced option for creating a shell overlay (called "Close all openings" or something in one of the Advanced Setting tabs, it was meant to close non-manifold objects but would also close off holes and grooves) on an existing model does for filling over the "gaps" in some models I've seen (Lotus flowers, roses, etc.) to create a shell, but I'm hesitant to do that if PrusaSlicer has a similar feature that I just haven't spotted yet.

Anybody else got some ideas? Please post suggestions and links here, maybe we can turn this thread into an inspiration discussion for stuff to print so folks aren't just hitting "most popular" on Thingiverse to see what other people are printing (because honestly, that site's search/etc. is awful).

To be honest, no but I've only had the printer a week, so the novelty factor is still strong 😀

One of the masters of "vase shaped things" (and "egg shaped things) is bugman_140 have a look at https://www.prusaprinters.org/social/533-bugman_140/prints not sure if that's the sort of thing you're looking for?

Can I just say I hate the fact that this forum only gives you a very short time to edit or delete your posts!

This is a point where you pick any 3D CAD software and try to create your own floral objects. Be able to create your own objects and print it is the best.

3D printer is a tool. Yes, it's fun to learn this tool in the first place. But after some time you get it to know and it wanted to be used as a tool. If you own a drill you also don't think on daily base "Where can I make a hole today?" :).

Anyway, if you just want to keep your printer busy, here are some ideas:

Not sure the best place to show this off, but figured I might as well do it here.

I love bridging. This is Prusament ASA Natural.

I'm no stranger to modelling things, it's just that most of what I "do" is mechanical modelling in software that requires a lot more constraints than more organic/artistic modelling software.

EDIT: Not sure if it's because it's awaiting moderation, but here is the link to the clip in case the embed doesn't work https://i.imgur.com/ragLRsH.mp4

Because that's where I am.

I have the opposite problem! Every day I check the recent uploads to PrusaPrinters.org and spy a model I would like to print, or it inspires an idea to design something.
