How do I print three 20x8x2mm boxes without them lifting from the print plate?

So my models are literally box shapes. 20 x 8mm and 2mm tall. I need to print three of them but they keep coming off the print plate. Is the footprint just to small? I an using the standard “10mm detail” settings with PLA. I scrubbed the rough Build plate with soap and a sponge. Afterwards I cleaned it with glas cleaner. They came off 4 times already. I also tried printing at 60% speed.

is the footprint just too small to maintain adhesion?

What filament are you using?

Ideally, scrub your PEI sheet under a sink with running water and dish soap using a clean paper towel. It's the volume of water that's important. Avoid using a sponge that has been used for any other purpose as minute amounts of grease can ruin PEI bed adhesion. Dry it off with another plain paper towel and do nothing else. Then repeat your Live-Z calibration. Avoid contaminating the PEI surface.

Done properly, you should not have issues with small parts adhering to the print surface without the need for brims or rafts:

There have been many instances where filament simply won't stick to the Prusa textured sheet well, particularly with PLA. Let us know what surface you're using.

Please see the photo below,

I have printed 5 boxes 20mm x 8mm x 2mm

three flat, one on it's long edge, and one on it's short edge<

and

I have printed 5 boxes 20mm x 8mm x 2mm with a cutout 18mm x 6mm x 1mm

three flat, one on it's long edge, and one on it's short edge

Using PLA, on the Textured removeable build plate.  using Generic PLA profile @ 0.10mm layer height, with retraction reduced to 0.4mm and heatbed raised to 70C

textured heatbed washed and  rinsed, no window cleaner... extruder 215/21C, bed 70/70C
Good luck, Joan

This needs to be moved to MK3s forum.

Regardless of which FDM printer you use, the following are important:

- a well-adjusted first layer, the plate must be level

- experiment with the first layer temperature. This is usually somewhat higher than the subsequent layer temperatures

- a grease and dust-free printing plate cleaned with soap and water (maybe 99.9% ipa). Don't touch the printing surface after cleaning

- if the ground area is small, use a brim. Easy to remove with a deburrer

- Avoid draughts and deactivate the nozzle-fan if necessary

Hm, it seems like a mystery as to why it wouldn’t stick. I added a 10mm brim and now it worked. I guess the nozzle is applying a force and the holding force depends on the surface area.

@geoper2

Why does it need moving to the Mk3 forum, to the best of my knowledge the OP doesn't mention which printer they have!

the people trying to help may have Mk3's but that doesn't make it a mk3 issue.

@inf-88,
In your first post, you say that you washed the heatbed with soap and water, (which is good)
and then wiped the surface with Glass cleaner...   (which is often reccomended for use with PETG, to reduce the adhesion)

Why not try again, washing the build plate, rinsing well, drying the build plate with CLEAN PLAIN paper towels,  plate, but not using the glass cleaner
