Getting burnt blobs when trying to print a lithograph

I've tried three times now to print a lithograph, and am getting sporadic blobs of burnt filament stuck to it. Using the stock nozzle, and PETG, 0.05 mm layer. I tried making sure the nozzle is clean, did a cold pull, and also tried dialing down the nozzle temp by 5 degrees. Now I notice that on the back (flat) side of the print, there is a definite pattern to the burnt blobs (more like a curving line) . In comparison, I tried printing a plain box with same outer dimensions and it comes out fine. Do you think this can be solved somehow? (- see pics - first pic is the plain box, second shows the back of three attempts). On the detail side, there are occasional burnt blobs, but not quite so similar in location

Thanks, here's a picture. hard to get a good angle on the shot, though, so may not be all that clear
