ASA supports sticking like hell
Hello all,
when I print Prusament ASA on my Mini, I am unable to remove the supports afterwards. They stick so hard that I ruined one side of my sheet ;-( I can remove the printed part just fine, the supports stay, no matter what I do.
I attached a picture of the print in action so that you all can see the setup, temps etc.
Do I need to use a solvent every time I printed ASA or do I need a different type of sheet or is there something I can change in PrusaSlicer to fix this? It is driving me crazy!

I also clean with Windex between prints. Nothing has stuck too badly.
How is it for blobs/zits? See my postings in this section for that issue.

Yes, you may experiment with various alcohol based household cleaning liquids, some of them ease separation from the print bed.

Thanks for the link to the scrapers.
Do you both mean windex/alcohol in between prints or for removing the ASA Supports on the sheet? As I understood it, cleaning will improve adhesion whereas I have the opposite problem.
Is there a setting in Slicer where I may reduce the "footprint" of the supports maybe?

I haven't used supports with ASA, so can't help with slicer settings there. I am following the guide section 10.1. Cleaning the bed with Windex between prints instead of IPA lets things stick a little less. So far that has been right for PETG and ASA. For PLA, I used IPA, but am running out of it.
Does the skirt stick? The scraper easily takes that off, even with PETG.

Bumping this up because I'm having the same issue, but with a brim on my smooth sheet. This is my first time printing with ASA. Anybody come up with any solutions?

I am not sure about ASA, but often a wet filament is stringing a lot.
You may try to dry your spool in the oven.

It's a fresh spool, straight out of the bag.
And I found a way to get the brim off. I had to re-heat the bed. This seems contrary to Prusa's advice of letting the bed cool to remove things. YMMV but hope that helps someone else.

I've done a lot more ASA since my last thread post. What has been working for me is to clean with IPA between prints. Clean with Acetone if any previous ASA stays stuck to the sheet. Wait till the bed is completely cold before removing the printed object. I do sometimes reheat and recool the bed to encourage enough warping to get things off.
I generally don't use supports as with ASA they pretty much result in a poor surface finish. I often cut my pieces in half at some height so I have two flat sides and glue them together. I also use a draft shield (full height skirt) if needed to keep things from warping.
Drying ASA is pretty critical for good performance.

It may help to actually increase the number of brim loops to make it easier to peel it off the print bed. I believe we use 2 brim layers as of now.

A couple times I used the full height skirt plus a really wide brim around the printed object. That will help hold objects with a narrow base to the bed, but a plastic razor will fit under it and pry it off.

If you are familar printing with PETG you could try a few things..
Run the first layer calibration with ASA settings and make sure the first layer is not squished into the sheet,
You could also use a separator like glue stick so the asa sticks more so to the glue than the PEI.

I suggest changing the base layer or "First Layer Density" of supports from 90% to about 75% or lower (if need be). It reduces the contract patch of ASA to the bed. Also, you need to use something like Magi-Goo or something made for high temp material. Glue stick can work, but I have always experienced the glue smoking a bit when the bed temp hits 80-90°.
