The only possibility which is currently available without firmware intervention is to pass on the esteps via PrusaSlicer. The other possibility to directly modify the firmware is to remove the seal on the buddyboard.

RE: support for bondtech

when the eeprom support will be re-established You'll be to store M92 E415 as default setting without the need of gcode injection.

Until that....only gcode injection in the start gcode, etc...

I would suggest creating a small gcode in the usb stick and "print" it as first think You do after power up so all operations including load unload filament runs as expected.

bondtech extruder also requires a wire swap in the motor cable as the extruder has to run in the opposite direction.

RE: support for bondtech

The Bondtech upgrade manual for assembly of extruder or heatblock has it inside written, where to add the gcode in PrusaSlicer. I copied it there and I don't have to think about it anymore. Even Octoprint has a column for adding gcode before the file's gcode starts.

Prusa will probably never allow the Bondtech Extruder/heatblock as plugin (similar as filament sensor). If Prusa officially allow it, it means, it is a supported plugin, which Prusa would have to also have to do a detailed test in their lab. And any new must-have 3rd party upgrade would be asked to add and owners would mix Prusa support with creator (of it) support.  They already do it on forum now. That is also why there is the seal bypass for similar situations, which we all know what it does.

@john-doe-3

That is the general gist I have gotten from Prusa’s blog posts and interactions.  They do not want to officially sanction or support other products or modifications.

RE: support for bondtech

I for one think Prusa’s support makes a lot of sense. Right now, the line in the sand is clearly visible: we support whatever was installed on our machine when we ship it. You make modifications, you’re on your own. Because where else would you draw the line? For example, I have the Trianglelab clone of the Bondtech extruder. For all intent and purposes it works identically. However, when I tried to user an adapter to mount the filament sensor I noticed that one of the screw holes is almost 10 mm shifted compared to the original Bondtech. Again, in this case it doesn’t make any functional difference but with so many Chinese clones of everything out there, who knows how close they are to the original. You’d go nuts if you were on their support staff and had to figure out what specific customizations someone with a problem might have done to their systems.

We see this here all the time trying to help folks. More often than not the information provided is incomplete in the first place, and it’s not a rare situation that after many messages back and forth it suddenly transpires that the OP has made a customization to their system that they didn’t bother mentioning earlier.

RE: support for bondtech

Would someone be able to post a sample Prusa slicer start gcode for the bondtech heartbreak and bondtech extruder adjustments. The instructions are a little unclear to me and I want to make sure I paste the code into the start gcode in the correct location. Thank you!!
